    Motivation Strategy
Well, I needed motivation to get to work and after trying different approaches I've found that "positive motivation" doesn't work for me.. as in "If I work hard enough I can buy XYZ"

One of my friends proposed trying a Fear Factor style motivation plan. If I don't reach $X by a given date I would let them come up with some type of punishment for me.

That was a couple weeks ago, today I agreed. This is how it's going to be:

If I don't make at least $3000 in December promoting affiliate programs (excluding my gambling site and adsense) using only SEO and PPC ($500 max spend per month) I will do one of the following (to be decided soon):
    • Run in my underwear through some crowded place
    • Eat a few worms
    • Let them shoot me with a Paintball gun (2 times each) execution style at a distance of about 15 steps.

Just thought I'd post my little motivation experiment and let you guys know how it works out. If I fail, pictures of my public humiliation will be available for all to see

    Javi,

It's nice to have high expectations, but $3,000 between now and December?
It takes an affiliate a lot of time and effort (with some luck thrown in) to make that kind of money.

Perhaps you can do it if you excel at SEO and PPC.

I have a suggestion if you'd like more "scary" motivation:

    • Run with the Bulls in Pamplona

Actually, I hope you stay safe at home

Awww, be a good sport about it and let them run in your underwear anyway.

Good luck Javi. Hope you make the 3k for the month of December. If not, I'll send you a bucket of North Carolina Redworms to grub on...

Arg, my choice of words wasn't the best there, I can't edit so if a mod can change the "I will let them do" to "I will do" I'd be forever grateful.

    --

I know I can do it Rhia, I just need to get to work (that's the whole point). Even if I only make it half way by December it will be worth it.

And I already run with the bulls, so that would actually be a prize You should try it some day!

You think $3k in one month is a lot?

Some people might be able to do it, and easily at that ... but $3K is a lot of money, and not every affiliate is going to make $3K in a month or even in 3 months. There would be many variables to factor in.

Hey guys, let's cheer/encourage Javi on and not let the number discourage. This is a motivation strategy thread, not to be confused with demotivation..

Anyway, I wanna know how it turns out Javi.

    I hope he does well

If I can make $3K in affiliate sales, I've already talked about a trip to Latvia (Party thread ).

I want to go to Latvia and I want to go back Spain -- I'd definitely stop in Madrid. I love Madrid.

I love to travel. I haven't been to Latvia, but I've been to Spain 3 times.

    Have some kids.

When they say, "Daddy, I'm hungry", that's all you'll need to get motivated.

Not sure how it translates to posting, but I'm "biting my tongue." Don't know how long the self-control will last, but I'm trying. (Rhia, is there a smilie for grrrrrr?)

I know people who make $3000 a week and a few who make $3000 a day. The sky's the limit in AM folks!

Sure there are affiliates who make that Unc, but I don't see any of them acting like hotshots in this thread poo-pooing $3K a month from running affiliate sites like it's chump change.

Any tips on how an affiliate reading ABW could make that type of cash?

Mr. Sal, that's a good recommendation, but "your suggested grrr" has tipped the scale to anger, whereas has not gone full scale yet, but could go either way.

    Rhia7,

Since you too like the dancing bannana, do you remember the The "Hey, Macaroni!" Screen Saver from the late 90's? Hey, Macaroni!

I used to have it on my Windows 3.1 computer back then.

Edit: I Removed the link just in case. I don't know now, but when I had that Screen Saver back then, it was ok.

I'm afraid to click on screensavers because sites that give them away often give away spyware too.

Thanks for the suggestion Is it safe to click?

Hmmm...funny question coming from someone who's still confused between what a merchant and an affiliate are.

So bobmutch, since you think $3K a month is chicken feed for an affiliate site, how much have you been making from your affiliate sites? How many thousand a month do your affiliate sites earn? Or is that thousands a day or thousands a week?
