    Upgrade time
    Hey all,

As we are approaching our fifth year anniversary, I'm going to be once again upgrading the board for more functionality and applying some much needed fixes as well as cleaning up the board of old / closed fora and also expelling some dead weight forums as well.

While this is not, nor will be the official "scheduled downtime for upgrade" thread I would appreciate any / all input as to what you'd like see gone, moved, merged or added to the forum as well as functionality wise while keeping in mind that I'd rather scale the board down (ie. drooping forums of merchants who don't post) than really expanding it ... think streamline.

POI - Both FPs www.abestweb.com and forum.abestweb.com are also going to get some major overhauls also.
    Continued Success,

And before R7 says "bring back online.php" ... I'll think about it.

    Two things.

    1) I think many people are coming here and "faking"i their way through the posts nedded to get a sig, then using their sig as a spam mechanism. Maybe a larger post reqmt for sigs.

    2) A question. During this upgrade....will tracking be affected?

The "Trusted Merchants" section needs something done to it (removed or cleaned).

    Scoots,

1/ I think I've got a fix for that finally.

2/ I can assure you that Tracking Will NOT be affected. LOL

    -----

    SSanf,

    Yep Chat will be available.

No need to tremble, we'll do it at 2:30AM and only take about two hours for the whole thing.

    LMI, ABW.........Guess It's Vacation Time, We're Closed

Received a call recently from a merchant looking for another OPM that was not managing the same vertical as I was, so similar to these occasions I send them to the Out Sourced Program Managers link, but does not work.

Like it used to be in the old days.

Change that "20,000+ members" line on http://www.abestweb.com to "26,000+ members" (I don't think you'll have a problem hitting the number within the next month and a half)! Impressive growth, Haiko!!

Just as long as the fontface doesn't get shrunk or changed, there's nothing I can think of just yet.

JRami already got my other one: some of the links to the top level of forum sections don't work. It's not just those two, though...

I see that you have a tools link at the top, does that mean that your cleaning up the resources section and adding some cool new tools? ;-)

I really kinda liked having the "who is online" feature up at the top. But it's no biggie.

    Hi Haiko

It would be great to have "Thread based" RSS option, some threads get very long an involved and getting it via RSS would be a great option.

Also if tools / scripts could be available to embedd RSS into a site that would be great for merchants and promoting ABW too

    Cheers

Every forum already has an RSS (this forum is http://forum.abestweb.com/external.p...2&forumids=205 ) just replace the 205 with the appropriate forum number ...

    CafePress's is:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/external.p...2&forumids=343

    and for the shopkeeper forum:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/forumdisplay.php?f=344

It's the thread specific RSS that would pose the challenge.

Yep I use the forum specific ones , the thread based one would be great, but not essential

Thank you! I looked around and didn't see how to do that Now to take advantage of that....

Thread specific would be nice but like Chris says, not essential.

Thread specific may not be possible though unless there is a hack to vb. I know that vbulletin 3.6 is about to come out, but not sure if it tackled thread specific RSS.

Haiko, the newbie SPAM is getting out of hand. Also the sig SPAM.

Could we have a new rule that goes something like this - sig links are not determined by the number of posts but by the quality - which shall be determined by the owner of this board.

And could you please turn off Bob Much sig at least for a while. He, like other recent newbies is getting a little too arrogant.

    Thanks!

One-by-one determination for thousands of members is going to be a lot of work. I say these extra features should start at X posts and let everyone know how many posts it is to begin with. Then when you see those that just post to be posting to get spammy with it... then hit them with a 2 x 4.
