John Sheridan (Babylon 5) was president for such a short period I had originally thought you had made a mistake in putting him on your list. (he technically wasn't even a president as he did take over in a coup) Bartlett was my favorite as an actual LEADER (even though I am a Republican). Palmer was great as Pres on 24 but his biggest act of leadership was to let Jack do his Job (Charles Logan don't even get me started I never liked him even in season 4 and now... I don't want to say anything that would endanger my status as a Good Christian but well he makes my blood boil). Mackenzie Allen is hampered by the fact that the show she is on is too trite (and so is she) and two dimensional the show could have really allowed her to be a great leader also she still might do something but I have given up on CIC.
James Dale was Hillarious I loved that movie, Laura Roslin was also not a very good leader although her heart was in the right place (and if you are including Roslin why not Baltar?) Dave was nice but ... well I the movie could have worked if he had been president of any country or even just a major company so I didn't really think of him as a real president. Whitmore was cool but once again too overshadowed by the rest of the Film and cast. The rest I know nothing about. And obviously I have no life to have written this much about each of them LOL

Wow.. yes, well there's a mini-bio of each.

Sheridan was president of the Interstellar Alliance after the coup though. I guess he wasn't a Republican, even if he was a bit of a jarhead. Wes Clarke, anyone?

Baltar.. well to be honest I've only seen him as president in the single episode. He didn't do a very good job!

Jack Bauer for president perhaps? Well, didn't Jack Ryan become president?

None of the above, but if anyone has never read the "novels" by Taylor Caldwell, there are some ostensibly fictional presidents definitely worth a read. It's definitely worth a hunt around used book shops, thrift shops and yard sales to dig out her books - history will never again look the same.

Just seeing the look on the First Ladies face as Pres. Charles Logan, of 24, getting ushered off that political pontificating podium by the Secret Services was priceless. I have a real feeling He's in for more deep doo-doo from that scorned woman next season if Jack doesn't strangle him first. That assumes Jack escapes the Chinese mofia kidnap gang beating him senseless in the season ender.

Was there any Presidential poll diving senerio left out of this program? The writers of 24 are great and enjoy making Presidents dance to their love/hate good/evil scripts.

When I saw this thread title I thought hmm, who's my favorite US president.. After deciding I clicked the link to vote and it's movie presidents!! Anyway, I was going to vote for Polk because he purchased California. If not for him I might be living under Mexico's rule!

Well, there's a lot to be said for the concept of "President as Action Hero". I mean, if George W was actually prepared to patrol the streets of Baghdad with enough guns strapped to him to look like Chuck Norris, then I betcha he'd get a lot more respect!

Maybe that's where it's all going wrong. Perhaps the next presidential election should be a race to invade North Korea on a surfboard and nick all their weapons of mass destruction. But I guess that Arnie can't stand for POTUS

I think George Bush would qualify as a "fictional" president.

Bush also said that when he next spoke to G8 leaders, he would keep it brief. "I'm not going to talk too long like the rest of them. Some of these guys talk too long. Gotta go home. Got something to do tonight," he said.

My great great grandpa was name Millard Filmore Hamilton after the president of his time. He named one of his many sons MF Hamilton. You try naming your kid MF nowadays.
