Parasiteware doesn't really do any of that. It sits in the background until you send your customer to whatever.com, then when they begin to check out, it pops and loads whatever.com with their affiliate link, overwriting your affiiate cookie and taking the sale. It is not a matter of overwriting your links.

you mean it also depends on the computer user to click on the ParasiteWare's link in order for them to succeed in overwriting ?
    Not a forced/hidden/automatic overwriting ?

Are all Parasiteware work the same way as you described, e.g. something pop-up ?

    please clarify

Most parasites target the merchant's domain, or a specific page, usually in the checkout process. Once this page is loaded, a pop up occurs and the site is loaded through their link. Sometimes a popup does not even occur, a simple redirect takes place in the background and their link is loaded and the user might never know. Parasites do not require a click. If they required a click they would not be parasites.

Nope! That might keep your affiliate links from getting whacked by Norton et al, but it will not keep your commissions from getting hijacked by parasites.

    Hi Vrindavan,

Hopefully I can answer your questions:

As UncleScooter says, they don't overwrite your affiliate url, they overwrite your affiliate cookies.

They can overwrite the cookies set from your affiliate url after the redirect. As UncleScooter states, Parasite Software overwrites your affiliate cookies when it recognizes the site the surfer is on is one it's affiliated with.

The only way to cloak your affiliate url so Parasite Software won't be able to be effective is by hiding the fact that your visitor is looking at the Merchant's web site. If the Parasite Software doesn't recognize the site being shown to the visitor, it won't know to pop a window or redirect the visitor to overwrite your cookies. This can be done through a framed web page using your affiliate URL as the frame's source, but it can only be done if the Merchant, or the Affiliate Program associated with your affiliate url has a "Compact Privacy Policy" in place, (few do), otherwise the Internet Explorer web browser will block any cookies from a framed page.

What is their provided option? My guess is this is simply an option to hide your CJ link so ad blocking software like Norton and McAfee don't block your CJ links as they have been known to do now.

Once again, if you send your visitor to the direct URL - ex: http://www.somesite.com, and the Parasite Software is affiliated with this site, it will either pop an ad with code to set affiliate cookies or redirect your visitor through their own affiliate url so that their affiliate cookies are set.
