June 26th, 2006, 01:28 PM #1Check your individual product/datafeed links
Individual product links for MANY CJ clients are going straight to the vendor's home page instead of the page for the selected product.
So much for targetting of traffic. This could explain why so many of us are seeing lulls in sales activity over the last few days.

I checked a few product links. Some links go to a 404 Not Found!
Some links go to a general merchant page, and some links actually work the way they should.

Has there been notification from CJ that I'm not aware of? An advertiser told me a couple of days ago CJ was working on the problem. So CJ must've known about the issue.

Remember, tracking has not been affected and no sales have been lost....
Yeah, prove that when your customer lands on a 404 Not Found page.

I have found a great solution to this redirection problem...
It's called the "DELETE" key. On my keyboard, this key is located just to the left of the "END" key - between the letters and the number key pad.
Try it - it feels great!
I vote the we re-label our "DELETE" keys to read "CJ-LMI" key...
Maybe I should set up a side business selling replacement keycaps and stickers (with a Affiliate program at SAS).

Luckily, my product links still seem to be functioning. I guess I'll need to keep a close eye on them now.

Ahhh, let's see.
Bacario, Swimsuitsforall, I could go on all day but I'm not about to mention my top performers on a public forum (at least they were good performers when the links worked).

I've got most up and at least one down, seems to be some sort of compatability issue with the advertiser. The advertiser that went to the home page DOES have the product in question.
The whole site is dedicated to this advertiser in question, who uses a "cgi-bin" format to navigate thier site.
Nice Job CJ....

The beta testing, I hear, was CJ testing it with their own employees in house. That is certainly not the real world and it is not all the many creative ways we build sites to make money.
I recall talking to the owner of a merchant company at CJ this year, asking for a datafeed and he said they did not want folks duplicating his site. He said he knows how to sell his products, but affiliates are the creative ones who know how to use and modify his links to drive traffic to his site for sales. What CJ is doing is limiting our creativity to do just that.

"The beta testing, I hear, was CJ testing it"
Beta testing what?
I tested the links when I put them up, and they worked.
Not sure if you would call that an Alpha test, a Beta test, a Charlie test, or a Harpo test, but in any case, the links don't work any more.
