    Stores that use their checkout.
Think that is only for stores that accept the Google Checkout payment method.

Coupons. I was thinking that myself. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Unless I am missing something, I am a little surprised people aren't paying more attention to the other thread about Google Checkout that addresses the affect on Affiliate commissions..

especially John Walter's post: "From what I understand it was quite the hack for our engineering team to be able to integrate affiliate tracking into the system."

    Relax! It's temproray. (I think )

Google is trying to accelerate the use of Checkout by buyers as well the merchants, that's why they're coming up with these type of tactics to make it attractive. The Checkout is more intented to be used as a tool integrated with and supporting AdWords than as a standalone application.

I wouldn't be surprised if Google itself was paying for that $10 discount.

    Attract more leads.
Shoppers who see the Google Checkout™ badge on your AdWords ads will more easily find you when they search.
    Process sales for free.
For every $1 you spend on AdWords, you can process $10 in sales for free. For sales that exceed this amount or if you don't use AdWords, you can process them at a low 2% and $0.20 per transaction.
From the be a merchant page.... definitely looks like they are targeting AdWords merchants. I was considering it for a personal site, but will wait I think....

They say we should "Stop creating multiple accounts and passwords." so that means they want to be the only place to order online?

Google wants to do everything related to the internet. search, buying, selling, mail, advertising, stats, affiliate program, checkout. lol

Its hard for a consumer to drop a co, when they're using 10 different services from that co.

Like the man said. It takes a real IT effort to interface Google-Checkout with any affiliate sales tracking. Googles CPA program will not have that problem and a coupon can only be passed to G-Checkout by the merchant's payment button.
