What is the drawback or advantage to promoting companies that are "independent"? In other words, they are not associated with CJ or any of the others.
One company I have found pays 10% more than any similar companies I can find on CJ or linkshare. I am speaking in particular about nutritional companies...any reccomendations on nutritional companies will be appreciated as well!

I use a few independent programs and the ones I use are excellent. The drawback is that you are never 100% sure that their stats are correct (but I'm never sure even with the big networks), you are not quite sure if you'll ever receive a check, or whether it'll be on time, etc.. The advantage is that you can often find some good commission rates amongst the independents, and for me they offer lines that you can't find at the majors.
As for the nutritional side of things, that's best left to someone else to answer.
