    Two caches of same home page and diff pr
    I've searched and can't find fix.

    Google cache is showing mysite.com has no page rank and is an older version of www. mysite.com which shows page rank and the current content.

    If I search mysite with www and without in the search bar on internet explorer both searches show the same current page but page rank varies.

    What is the correct way of having google know that it's the same site....I'm thinking I'm being punished for dup content and want to do the correct redirect.

    They're actually two different pages, and the links are being counted separately and being divided between them.

    It isn't punishment, some links are going to one and some to the other. Do this in .htaccess for a 301 permanent redirect:

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com [NC]
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    Thanks for the replies all.

    I have 3 sites hosted in one package and am unsure what to do.

    my Mainsite.com
    site2.com
    site3.com

    my .htaccess file looks like this in each of my sites folders. I access each site seperately with ftp but each show AuthName my mainsite.com the same.

    IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*

    <Limit GET POST>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    allow from all
    </Limit>
    <Limit PUT DELETE>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    </Limit>
    AuthName my mainsite.com
    AuthUserFile /homepages/4/d153780197/htdocs/_vti_pvt/service.pwd
    AuthGroupFile /homepages/4/d153780197/htdocs/_vti_pvt/service.grp
    AddType x-mapp-php4 .html .htm
    AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtm .shtml .htm .html

    Do I leave it like it is and add this to the bottom?
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com [NC]
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    I'm at a loss on how to do it!

    No idea, here's a search with information that seems to indicate that's a password thing

    AuthUserFile

    Are those add-on domains? And I see _vti which is Front Page, are you using FP extensions on Apache?

    I use Front Page to work on sites and have a copy of .htaccess in Front Page as back up incase I screw something up. I'm not sure i have extensions is turned on or not.

    With me there's no telling what I've done!

    I get so excited when I get something on my site fixed( yeah! yeah! heck yea i did it!!)

    Then it's oh crap I've got ten more things to figure out how to fix!!!

    It's never ending and each step seems to get harder to fix, but don't get me wrong I love this stuff and can't wait to get to where I want to be with affiliate marketing!!!

    Thanks webworker!!
    It works!!! I got it loaded and now when you search for mysite.com it redirects and www. mysite.com comes up.

    I wonder how long before Google gets rid of the old cache and only shows the one with page rank?

    Google is like a woman with pack-rat syndrome, they hold on to everything forever.

    Another thing - with your internal navigation, make sure all of your links are consistent and all link to the same homepage URL, in this case to www.example.com
