I just passed a milestone today - I employed someone to work on a page. It was only for an hour or two and only for deleting extraneous stuff and checking where links go and writing headings but I'll use him again.

He never has any money, knows how to copy and paste, learns quickly and is almost as lazy as me. All fine qualities in an apprentice.

Tomorrow we are going to do 'custom landing pages from urls Icicle already found'.

Hey Icicle, That's a pretty cool idea! Just one question, Did you get them to sign a contract?

If not what's to stop them from takin over?<IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon38.gif>

Heh. You mean apart from my Ass Kicking Boots?

("If he knew me he wouldn't bother asking" he says).

Its my intention that he sign up at CJ on his own account sometime. At that point I'll need a new apprentice.

I have a candidate in mind who has a high IQ - shes very sensitive and caught in a poverty trap in a horrible environment. I've encouraged her to spend time with me if only because she's safer that way.

She can use Hotmail and isn't terrified of learning new things and she has dire need of an income that doesn't depend on being nice to @ssholes. I don't know if she'll be capable of running her own site eventually, but I don't see why not - and I'm sick of seeing intelligence like hers being taken advantage of by an employer who only pays her when he feels like it.

Ice, that's a really great thing to do. It's nice to know of somebody helping in a way that could allow a person to thrive on their own.

You can lead a horse, even a thirsty horse, to water...

Though the intelligent sort who is usually not paid what their intelligence is worth certainly does make the best target.

Darnit, you got an employee before I did!

Not knowing anyone in a poverty trap (I could find some easy enough but I wouldn't know if they had any sense or not), I guess I'll just have to settle for whoever can do the job and good old fashioned Non Disclosure/Noncompete agreements when I finally hire...
