Affiliate products for a humor site
I am considering starting a website that has funny videos as content. The traffic would be very generic, but there could be alot of it. I was thinking of promoting products like dating sites & ebooks, diet sites & products, and business opportunities/internet marketing ebooks.

Do you have any idea what click-through rates would be for this type of traffic/product combo?

    Thanks!

There would be many variables to factor in.

    To begin with, you said
I am considering starting a website that has funny videos as content
Have you made any attempt yet with or without the affiliate marketing?

Will you provide the funny videos yourself, or are you thinking of a YouTube mix?

Try to get a sense of your popularity prior to adding the marketing.

You might want to look at this site: http://e-humor.net/
The site might give you an idea as to what types of advertising work well with the site you are thinking about creating.

    Hi Rhia,

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried this idea yet. I am in the research stage. The site would be similar to e-humor.net. Their advertisers are similar to the types I have been considering. What click-through rates do you think e-humor's ads get?

    Click-through rates are easy.

    Conversion rates are not.

People who are visiting humor sites are not in "BUY" mode.

Try stuff that pays per-click or per-email-signup.

Also "click thru's" really mean nothing if visitors are low I have a FANTASTIC click thru rate on one site but that is because it only takes one click thru a month when you have 3 visitors to get 33% click thru. So what do I care what my click thru rate is. If I had 1000000 visitors I could live off only 1% click thru and 10 percent conversion. So another variable is how are you going to get people comming to your site instead of other sites that are doing the same thing. Your click thrus would then be affected by the type of marketing you are doing to get people to your site. If your marketing wasn't targeted and just "anybody" was showing up then you would be getting a lot of people who are not interested in Shopping. If you are targeting your traffic only to people looking for "jokes" then once again Are they going to click thru? SOooo many variables. (I am also a newbie and am just starting to understand that these variables are HUGE!)

BTW there are some great HUMOR products over at CafePress My store is one of them.
