For anyone else with sites at hostrocket, their servers have been down for at least 12 hours. Arrgh ...just as I looked like having the best month yet suddenly most of my sites are off line. The worst thing is that if any SE bots go round e.g. google (which had a bad effect last month) and Inktomi ..... arrrrgh - it doesn't bear thinking about. Drats, the downside of affiliate marketing.

"This in an emergency announcement to all HostRocket.com Customers with
accounts residing at the Virtual Development Inc. datacenter in New
Jersey. Currently this datacenter is undergoing a series of network
attacks and is having great difficultly maintaining their connection etc. "

18 hours on and the sites are still down and as yet no word of them being restored.

This is a wake-up call for anyone who has all their pages with one ISP. If something goes wrong it can wipe you out. Fortunately I have some sites with other ISPs but most pages are with hostrocket.

I just registered a new domain similar to the one that's down and bought hosting with a new provider so that I can have an alternative to move all the pages to in a couple of days if hostrocket doesn't recover and as insurance against further disasters. Its expense that I could have done without. I'm trying to make money not spend it! But there ya go.

With a spare domain name and ISP I can quickly switch files and at least keep going in the paid search engines but that won't make up for positions lost now in the free search engines, being absent when the search engine bots visit, or the loss of paid-for traffic, visitors, sales and leads that are currently disappearing down the tube and I can't do a damn thing about it. F%$4+~#! F$£4%+~#! F£$%4=~!

Tmd, I feel for ya. If you remember it wasn't all that long ago the same sheet happened to me. Unfortunately for me it lasted over a week. Hopefully you'll be up and running real soon.

Feel free to redirect to me while your waiting.

The worse thing is that I still haven't learned my lesson.

Thanks Patrick. I've turned attention to some UK site building to take my mind off the disaster. I've not had one sale or lead today uggh. I wonder how others have prepared themselves for this sort of event or does everyone just adopt the ostrich posture and hope it never happens to them?

My Hostrocket site was down for 3 hours. It works fine now.

You can see the status of your server here.
