I miss 7 Days' Pink Panther avatar and I miss the individuality of the other people using the same avatar.
Multiple use of that avatar is creating confusion as to who is posting what -- while the members of ABW chose the "no LMI" avatar for a good purpose, they have hocked their personal identity (and personal power in a way): when they post back to back they look like the kids from Pink Floyd's movie The Wall.

Make a: No LMI Avatar Avatar - see how confusing that would get..

They probably only know me through my avatar, and not my name.

    That may be true

People often associate posters through their avatars.

The "No LMI" avatar was good for a joke for 2 days, but all posters who use that know tend to meld -- I don't think it's that effective (anymore).

Are the CJ people paying heed to that avatar? Perhaps you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face?

What? People aren't putting it up as a joke. It's not just for CJ, for anybody that doesn't know about it. Don't understand the cutting of your nose/despite face thing as far as the LMI avatars.

The "No LMI" avatar is not a joke. It's a statement. It's our way of telling everyone how strongly we feel about LMI.

People are using the "No LMI avatars" in order to (supposedly) spite CJ.
Whether or not CJ gives a darn is another issue.

By choosing the "No LMI avatars" instead of the person's regular avatar, that person is cutting off his/her individuality.

Collectively they might be doing this to spite CJ, but they might also be taking away from their own effectiveness.

Oh brother. How does having a No LMI avatar cut off their effectiveness and effectiveness towards what?

I understand how strongly you feel about the issue but seeing a subforum populated with one red and while circle with the red slash after another, after another is kind of visually boring (please forgive if this viewpoint sounds frivolous).

I think the red LMI avatar is about as effective as singing:
All in all, you're just another brick in the wall
You are entitled to your opinion; I might differ.

I am against LMI as well, but I show the world on this forum my real face (even though I am in Flamenco attire). I'm not afraid to say "I am against LMI" face-to-face. I don't hide behind what someone said looks like a red condom

I've wanted to use the no-LMI Avatar, but until I saw Ron's I didn't know how to maintain my individuality. Thanks for the idea Ron!

I followed the lead and added my original avatar into the No LMI one. Great idea!

There's a reason army's wear uniforms even though it makes them easier to spot. Sometimes that's what you want. Uniforms suggest organization, power, and numbers. These, in turn, inspire fear. And, as any good operative knows, there is no more effective weapon than fear.

    I don't believe this!

A dead serious thread about something that could affect people's very livelihood was hijacked and the thread disrupted and taken off topic to something as trivial as a flipping avatar?

This is not about individuality and this is not a frigging social chat room. If that's what someone wants, they can go to Yahoo chat or iVillage chat. This is about BUSINESS. And AFAIC someone who regularly hijacks threads aka "walks on threads" is trolling. Sometimes they mean it deliberately and sometimes they don't even understand or know what it is they're doing - but it's still trolling and makes serious people want to say "the hell with it" and stay away.

Again: this is NOT a disco, is it? This is not a teeny-bopper chat room, is it? This isn't a place to maneuver around by people hungry for attention. Isn't this supposed to be a community of adult business people who want and need serious business discussions about serious business issues?

Just MHO of course, but I learned a long, long time ago that feeding trolls makes them stronger because they feed off attention.
