Update some site pages instead of full site
I saw there was some discussion about an update capability in WebMerge, i.e., update changed pages instead of recreating the entire site. Did anything ever come of that?

BTW, I've been a WebMerge registered user since mid-March. Fantastic program!

I can't remember if Richard was planning this for v2.5 or not.

My site consists of 40,000+ pages produced from about 150 WebMerge files, sometimes only a dozen or so pages need updating each day so this option would make a daily update, well, possible! Heck, I'd pay double just for this feature alone!

    Richard?

You're in luck: Version 3.0 will include an option for generating pages only from records which have changed, and in accordance with your request the price will go up (though it won't be double).

Actually, the upgrade price will be quite affordable.

The only downside to this is that it will increase the size of the settings file, since it'll need to include a checksum for each record in the file. I'm using the MD5 algo for that, so each checksum will only be 24 bytes regardless of record size, but it will add up if the source file is huge. This option will also slow processing down just a bit, but given what it's used for it'll still provide a very significant performance boost in overall throughput since most records won't need to be touched beyond the checksum comparison.

Geez dude, this post was from August 2006 and now today May 2007, version 2.5 isn't even finished yet. Maybe my grandkids will enjoy that feature you say in v 3.0.
