Question What messengers do you use?
I now find myself dealing with so many different people I have 3 different Instant Messengers up and running. I guess I could use one that sort of covers them all, but was curious as to what other affiliates are using. Here is my list:

    1) Yahoo Instant Messenger (8.0 beta)
    2) AIM
    3) Google Talk
    4) ICQ (used occasionally)

I do not use MSN messenger.

I prefer e-mail and messenger over talking on the phone as you can exchange more data (links, files, etc) via messengers. I also prefer YIM (Yahoo) over the rest.

Do you actually use any of the voice features of these messengers?

I have thought about that, but I enjoy the full features of YIM itself. In version 8.0 the 1MB file transfer sizes help for quick transfers, etc. Consolidation would be good, but you lose some features from my understanding.

I was primarily asking what messengers people use, not really a need to consolidate them with programs that limit functions in order to go across different networks.

I've been using Meebo these past few days and it's a wonderful AJAX client. I'm away from home so it's perfect for those times when you don't have your computer available. Otherwise I use Adium when I'm home with my Apple. For PC users I've heard great things about Trillian.

I use MSN, AOL and Yahoo via Trillian. At that level they are all the same, one easy login and much more managable.

MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Skype here. I used to use Trillian Pro but I like the bells and whistles that come with the real programs.

    Talking
Typically prefer MSN but also have accounts on AIM or ICHAT (they interact w/ one another) and YAHOO.

I use Trillian on my laptop at the office for the sake of keeping things simple.

I use AIM the most when talking to my merchants... but i can also use MSN or Yahoo.

I put them all together on Trillian... which is a fantastic tool.

I use MSN, not for any particular reason, that's just the one I happened to get an account with.

Thanks for the replies folks. I was really asking to see which is the best to use overall to GIVE to others to contact me. Forums such as this one allow you to put your IM name in the profile but usually don't cover ALL of the different types.

I've got to go with Snib... Meebo has been wonderful for me.

Access to your chat logs and buddy lists from any computer in a secure (as much as IM can be secure!) environment is definitely a plus. Plus, the Meebo team is a great, forward-thinking bunch, so I love supporting them.
