    LMI - Interesting Tid Bits
I was reading through the LMI External FAQ and found a few things that CJ have been telling the merchants very interesting.

    Here is one... interesting figures...

What about browsers that donít support JavaScript?

Of the sample we collected from our network data, less than 1% of the users who click on Commission Junction based links have browsers that donít support JavaScript. Of the 1% group, only 2% actually resulted in a sale. This is less than the number of users who donít have cookies enabled. The correlation is similar Ė users whose browsers donít support JavaScript or enable cookies rarely convert to sales.
and another. Not so sure I would like the fact that one day in place of an innocent little banner there is now a video displayed on my site, among other things.

What are benefits of JavaScript links?

    JavaScript links:

    • Support future dynamic capabilities such as automatic rotation, etc.
    • Are dynamic, so for example, if an advertiser makes a change to a text link, it will be dynamically updated on the publisher site without any effort on by the publisher.
    • Prevent natural search ranking degradation.
    • Can still be modified in all the ways important to publishers, including modifying destination URL, appending with SID, encrypting, changing destination URL and designating hyperlink location in text links.
    • Will support emerging multimedia link types such as video.
    • Are very common and can easily be incorporated into any Web site

What percentage of users will wait 20, 30, 90 seconds for a page to load? Multiply that times the average conversion rate without the wait and you've got something in the neighborhood of the .002% mentioned above.

Don't need no crystal ball to see what a mess that will be. It's bad enough that some merchants already see fit to replace 120x90's with 468x60's and such.
