I have heard of frat houses throwing parties and inviting the biggest losers on campus to the event, usually a male and female. They would present, out of pure meaness, and for a laugh, the "Golden brick Award" to the male and female that everyone hated, or thought were complete morons. I think there needs to be a "Golden Brick Award" in affiliate marketing. It could be a third party solution, merchant, message board, or affiliate. There would be a voting form, and a tally once a quarter, or once a year.

You fill in the blank... this years Golden Brick goes to...

Well you can sort of do that at our site by entering a merchant and the amount of money you have been stiffed.
http://AffiliateJustic.com

We'll issue a "deadbeat merchant" of the year award. We'll even call it the "chuckie" in your honor.

Other than myself who probably deserves it for a ton of stuff I did not do in a more timely manner that I should have done regarding Snare & BeScrewed.

I think the "Chuckie" should go to Steve Meeser at Linkshare.

Steve deserves this prestigious award for his
intense effort to screw everyone he possibly can and then play dumb and say it wasn't his fault.

This years runner up should go to Overture for their new and improved relevancy rules and a degree of stupidity only matched by Hitler's attacking Russia with an army that didn't have snow suits.

I'm with Fred on this. Steve Mieser is 'not contractually responsible' for all the fraud he's made money off.

Even when I'm asking about negligence, the 'answer' is about contract. A personal slipperyness I have rarely seen exceeded, even in a lawyer.

I reckon it should be called the 'Golden Toad Award'. And I think a delegation should go round and instal- erm, 'present' it personally.

OK I joined. I can upgrade that figure I pledged too, if neccessary. Its just what I could pledge if a lawsuit started today. So ask me again.

I have no idea how much Snare owe me. But its thousands. So I didn't enter anything. Life's too short to work it out.

CJ only owes $10??

Might be more than that if Sunglasses.com don't hurry up and post that test purchase I made.

Gordon -

We could probably make our money back, and a small profit, if we sold tickets to that..

Any CJ merchants sell vaseline?

The overall winner for the Big Brick is Steve Messer/LinkSnare!

The runner-up (for biggest turnaround of a bad type) is Jumpline.com!

A giant brick to Overture, may they get no hits! Same to any other person/site that has anything against affiliate sites!

Smaller bricks:
Give one to Books A Million for stingiest commission on a cheap item (3%)!

CJ Merchants that sell Vaseline: I'm sure Catalog City does. But give 'em a Smaller Brick, too--because you'll probably never find it from their product links.

Nice one Haiko

I think, and call me cruel, that we should only spend good money on vaseline for the ones who are sorry...

As the leaders are determined in the major "Golden Brick Award" categories (People -Networks -Merchants -Affiliates) I'd have to go with Gordo at BeFree for total lack of followup on promises made during his cashpile roast. Steve honored his despite merchant objections.

I'm torn by having to determine a vote for networks since I own no stock in any of them and only cash checks from 1% of their merchants anyhow. Those who still owe me always seem to grace the Walls at Pud's Hall of Shame.

Merchant Golden Brick Award appears to be a joint effort. Current ones like LL Bean at LS for studidity come to mind. 285,000 impressions and 1518 clicks with no sales resulted in their cancelling me for NON PERFORMANCE. Martha Stewart's online group for imposing strick impression and click quotas by Sept. 2001 and once reached they cancel their program without ever reporting a sale for my efforts. I'd have to say the Award will be given to the top 20 vote getters.

Affiliate award would go to Gator.com ..still active as a POS merchant at BeFree for popularizing the whole mess of parasitewarez and scumware.

Lube one up for Hallmark. February 2000: 13,558 clicks & one $1400.00 reversed sale! Actually this award should be shared with Linkshare. Hmmm, I think they can figure out how to accomplish this with only one brick between the both of 'em.

Sounds like my 2 years of efforts to promote HallMark. When you care enough to send the very best traffic you should be able to get paid for your effrots. Reporting of sales requires someone at HallMark to place the reporting tags in their shopping cart program...then leave the results alone.
