..this time they've removed the Referring URL feature.

What a waste of time.. they want you to upgrade to the extremely expensive paid version but I ain't gonna.

Who else provides decent access stats cheaply?

I use Bella Coola for tracking. I've used them since October 1998. It costs $19.99 a month to track 10K impressions. You just insert a bit of code on each page you want tracked and it writes each access to a log file that you can download off the web or using ftp.

Here's the site if you're interested:

I really wish these guys had an affiliate program, as I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs reliable third-party tracking.

    That's the same as FishTracker

I like FishTracker because it gives lots of decent low-level stats, if you combine with WTL you get almost all the features you'll need. But WTL still hacks me off

Get AdvLogger from www.perlonline.com - free or $30 for the superior version for tracking referral traffic. It really is the best I have found and I have tried literally everything from NetTracker to Sawmill and back again. No raw logs needed if that is the issue.

Oh and FunnelWeb and HappyLog are pretty fine for offline raw log analysis. Well, that's the set up I use and it does the trick for me.
