    Things to do list

Tidy up the drop down menu titles.

Create an ad to place in my newsletter.

Create a site index page and submit to search engines.

Make a more targeted list of key words.
Create hundreds of optimized content pages with my keywords and link them to the relevant pages. Submit each to search engines.

Create a links page. Get in touch with webmasters of similar sites and ask to exchange links.

Make an announcement to newsgroups?? Don't know never have used newsgroups before. Wouldn't know where to start.

Go to as many free sites as possible and make a little page with a link to the site. Submit them to search engines.

Start handing out business cards with the site on them.

Think about buying ads in print magazines.

Please, add to my to do list!

Yes, it is fun but also overwhelming.

I have another one on hold, too.

But, I hope this one is where the pickles are salted.

    Looks good.
Have you had any luck on previous sites opening the merchant site in a frame like this site? (eg, commissions reporting, images etc)

Maybe a bit more at the top of the frame.

Hey, just looked at the coolshop stuff.. While I prefer thumbnails, the way they use is pretty cool.

Yep, the underscores are on the way out. Just got tired.

No, this is a first effort, so I don't know what to expect. I made a CJ affiliate link to get the merchant site to open in the frame, so theoretically, it should work.

Hummmm, I guess I should add a tracking image on the top page so I will know how many pages are seen. Won't tell me which one, of course, but how many.

Okay Ssanf, I'm adding to your list:

    Check your color coordination
Run a spell and grammar check
Make sure to use keywords in ALT tags
    TITLE tags for every link
    Check keyword density
Check site with the images turned off
    Validate the html
    Run a link checker
    Validate your robots.txt
    Check your autoresponder
    Check website with different browsers
    Check at different screen resolutions
Use a spider simulator and examine results
    Check your load time

It's always a pleasure to help out. Let me know if you run out of things to do.

I would add this to a brand new todon't list. Firstly, it is pretty much a waste of time as the major search engines tend to ignore doorways on free hosts. Secondly, if you overdo this, you will trigger the Google spam filter and wham - PR0 for you.

I can't stress strongly enough what a bad idea this is. Even Inktomi is cracking down on this kind of manipulation. SEs want to see links from real sites, not doorway pages. You could only make this work if you turned each of the pages on the free hosts into a real site with its own inbound/outbound linking structure, which means more time and effort. Time and effort that would be better spent exchanging links with genuinely relevant, real sites.

    SSanf,

    When I read this:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Go to as many free sites as possible and make a little page with a link to the site. Submit them to search engines.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I thought you were kidding. Sorry, I must have been tired. That is such a wast of time. I'll second what markymark said about this kind of search engine spam. It's a bad idea. Even if it still works at some search engines, it will eventually cause you trouble.

Well, I had a banner to it in the newsletter but it didn't get a lot of action, only 2256 subscribers so far. I am going to use a drop down menue in the next issue, like this Newsletter

Do you think that will work better?
