Shareasale or Directtrack - Which to use?
I apologize in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong place....

I'm about to start an affiliate program and after talking to my marketing company, we've narrowed it down to Shareasale and Directtrack. I know a little bit about both of them, but I wanted to get your opinions on the programs and which one you'd go with. If you need more info, just let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mr. B.

From our experience with them, Share-a-Sale is a top notch bunch that are responsive to the needs of the online marketing community. Does this mean that no one else can provide a quality service? No. But SaS is a very safe bet - especially if it is your initial entry into sponsoring an affiliate program.

I would also recommend that if you are going to offer an affiliate program that you let people know who you are and how to reach you. It adds a bit of credibility to the program and shows that you are proud to be associated with your program.

Best wishes for a successful launch at SaS. They will treat you right.

We just launched Jigsaw2order's Affiliate program with SAS and have to say I am very pleased so far. We got great support from SAS during the setup phase with every e-mail answered within 24 hours. It also helps that they have a forum here on SAS where you can ask other Merchant's and Affiliates about any issues you face. There is also a lot of goodwill out there surrounding SAS which goes a long way to encourgage affiliates to join your program. For an Affiliate, its another tick in the box if you like.

I did find that the SAS Merchant Account interface was a little old fashioned and perhaps could do with a rewrite but I guess that will come in time. All the functionality you need is there and it works which is the important thing. Please drop me an e-mail if you have any specific questions regarding our experience with SAS.

I just launched a SAS program and it was a breeze. I do some consulting for a DT program and it looks like it has a ton of bells and whistles but could never get them to work. Plus, have had a lot of upset affiliates on the DT system due to server changes and emails problems. Can't say that for SAS.

Wow - Great replies! I didn't expect very many. It seems like everyone likes Shareasale. The marketing company is really leaning toward Directtrack because they've used them before and had a good experience with other projects. Can anyone give me any specifics as to why they'd pick shareasale over directtrack? I'd like to give them reasons why SAS is better.

    Main reason....

Affiliate marketing is about realationships ...
Relationships need trust to develop and flourish ...
SAS is the defenition of trust in affiiate marketing ...

It also looks as though directtrack charges you for bandwidth - that seems strange to me.

DT doesn't seem like a network in the way SAS does. From looking, I'm guessing that SAS has more of an affiliate base than DT does.

SAS, Donuts reviews your program for interest. DT, nope.

Secret formula that SAS uses... serve affs needs (while doing the same for merchants) and they will come, stay and sell.

After taking a look at it again, directtrack is just the platform for an affiliate program, but they don't have a network. SAS has the platform and the network, which seems better in my opinion - not to mention the fact that everyone here seems to like them.

I need to sell my marketing company on this. Here's what I've got so far.

    SAS:
    -Very affiliate friendly
-Cheaper to get set up and started than DT
-Has an existing network of affiliates to offer our program to - getting the program in front of people instantly - DT doesn't (as far as I can tell).
-Doesn't make you pay for bandwidth
    -Handles affiliate payment for you
-Trusted and respected in the industry

Have I left anything out that specifically makes them stronger than DT?

Thanks everyone for the great info - we'll discuss it today and hopefully I can convince them that shareasale would be a good way to go.
