    AdWords Link Question
Look at an AdWords ad in Google search and right click the link. Checking the link properties in Firefox shows that Goggle gives two drastically different types. One has what looks like a normal URL made from the target domain. The other starts with http://www.google.com/pagead and is loaded with cryptic information and the target domain. Anyone know why the difference?

Depending on how your adwords account is used, there are other data services G must employ (conversion tracking, dynamic tools, syndication, GA, auto tagging urls with data). It's been my experience that the choices of these settings determine which type of adwords urls (namely, the two types you asked about) get used with an advertisers ads. So it has little to do with where the user lands and everything to do with what other data G needs to fire off alongside the ad services being delivered.

That's kind of what I was thinking, and with all the uncertainty of late I don't want to be using adwords in a way that brings on the final judgment.

I did notice that my ad had the long complex URl in the link and that only approximately 2 out of 10 were like that. Being in the minority makes me nervous even when I'm right.

Hehehe! I know exactly what you mean. After latest fiasco, we're all wondering how to drive down the middle of the road, in a plain unmarked car, so we can just be quiet, unnoticed adwords advertisers.

Btw, I have plenty of both types of urls in my accounts... think this issue isn't a red flagger either way...
