    My stuff is here :)
If you don't know what that means, skip this thread Those that do will say "it's about freaking time"

Setting up the real computer tomorrow, with the real monitor and the real Bose speakers!!!! YAY!

Nothing *appears* to be busted, won't know until I get it all hooked up tomorrow... need a new video input cable so couldn't do anything with the computer tonight...

30 years of photos and lots of memories have finally made it here....

Maybe it will stop feeling like I live in a hotel instead of an apartment...

Thanks for all the advise and good vibes sent out through this whole mega-ordeal.......

(there is more to the story, but I don't feel like typing it all at the moment... let's just say when it first arrived this afternoon, it still wasn't "here"...)

    Hey, congrats, Deb!

I've moved long distances several times so I know how nice it is when your stuff finally arrives or comes out of storage. Until then you really do feel like you're camping out indoors. Which might be fun for kids but it's not so great for adults.

OMG! I can't believe it took that long. Hearing your news just made my day. It's nice to know that what seems to be the impossible is still possible these days.

Enjoy getting to know your stuff again. I imagine there will be plenty of "oh gosh, I completely forgot that was in there" kind of moments.

    Have a great weekend!

    lol... Tennessee.....

There is a blocked hole in the video input so I have to go out and get a new video card today just so I can see if my computer survived the trip!!!! Oh the agony of having my computer finally and *still* not having it hooked up!!!! I was not going to go to bed until it was up and running, but had to give up.... I hate giving up or giving in to electronics!!!!!!! *I'm the boss, not them!*

    Oh Frabjous Day!

I've had similar experiences - though travelling across continents rather than in the same country. As well as being really pleased at finding all this stuff that you'd half forgotten about, I've found it a useful experience in that I realise I don't really need a load of the stuff that I think I do. Sort of liberating in a way - except I still don't jettison things I don't need to.

I just have to say - to people that will understand -

I HAVE MY REAL COMPUTER AND IT WORKS!!!!!!
(shhh... don't tell the laptop it isn't the *real* computer)

There... got that out of my system. It needed a new video card... the 500 gigs of hard drives survived the trip... YAY... as did the flat panel monster sized monitor.. ok, not MONSTER sized, but pretty damn big... Still looking for the real keyboard - found a yucky old OLD one (letters are mostly worn off, good thing I know where/what they are - mostly - lol)

Spending the weekend BACKING UP those 500 gigs cause who knows if they will get cranky now that their vacation is over...

Back to your regularly scheduled weekend... I promise not to scream when I find the speakers.... those of you in California may hear the music blasting though... the neighbors currently think I am shy and quiet... rude awakening coming their way...

Go ahead and scream when your speakers get set up. It's way understandable. :-)

    Rock on!

Glad that you are able to get everything working and Kicking.. with the speakers that is.

My notebook hard drive crashed and i recovered just some of it before i had to reformat. Did a raw recovery and it was a pain. Lost lots of pics and docs..
