Questions about changing Affiliate Tracking Software

First of all, thank you for your time and consideration of this issue.
Being that having an affiliate program was new to my company, and having me, a new (learn-as-you-go) person managing our affiliate program my webmaster found and signed up with an Affiliate Tracking Software Company that I will call "D...".
Over the last two years, I am proud to report that affiliate business is great and growing...our only problem is the "D..." software. I am the point now where I am researching new affiliate tracking software providers to replace this program. Hence my questions - besides the rhetorical "Is this wise?"
Has anybody else had experience with changing software tracking providers? If so, was it worth the change in your opinion?
Some of my problems being, (but are not just limited to):
* Affiliates having problems with log-ins. "I
finally was able to get a request for password change sent
through, but when I tried to log in with the new password, it
still gave me an error message that the password or user was invalid."
* Site being inaccessible.
* Still have problems with my affiliates not getting their approval
e-mails. I've been rounds with them to get this addressed. I
finally gave up and when an affiliate signs up, I send a manual,
personal welcome e-mail with their information in it.
* TWICE they have had problems due to their numerous updates that
cause us not to be able to track the affiliates sales...something
with universal pixel on their end. (Many times the updates have
quirks that are learned at our expense (or other affiliate
websites expenses) and then tweaked.)
Are these normal problems that I should just grin & bear or do you feel that I am right in considering the turmoil of changing the program in mid-stream?
Any suggestions on the best affiliate tracking software providers?
Thanks for the advice in advance.

There is no "best". It depends on what features in "D" you want to keep and what new ones you want to get. There's also a balance of upsetting existing affiliates by giving them new links .vs. solving the pain you have today.
Sounds like you are on a hosted system. Can't you get their support people to help out? That's what those monthly fees are forAre these affiliates stealing from you?
