To those that think that they're really Invisible.
I'm making this post because I find it ridicule for those that are online with an * next to their name and think that they're really Invisible around here.

I'm not going to mention anyone, but it's stupid to think that you're Invisible around here just because when you make a post, you get this thing next to your avatar.

Even when you think that you're Invisible, we can still see your name on the index page that you're loged-in, and on any thread that you might think that you're browsing while you're Invisible.

It's hard enough to trust anyone, but it's even harder to trust anyone that thinks that they're Invisible when you can see them around.

Don't make a fool of yourself, use a Newbie name if you want to hide, but don't try to fool anyone around here with this shit:

    Sal.

Only those that can see invisible people online can see them. The "online" icon has three settings "online", "offline", and "user chosen to be invisible".

Example I can't see invisible users when they are online even on the "whose online" list. I don't see the names with the * by their name because I am not a mod or have those privileges.

Invisible mode is helpful for when you have a lot of watcher of the Whose Online stalking process.

It's helpful on a lot of vbulletin boards for admins that don't want to be watched who and what they are looking at any given time, and for users for the same reason.

Though permissions would have to be setup properly for it to be effective.

A couple of days ago, while I was having lunch, there was I guy sitting at the next table. He was carrying on a serious conversation with his lunch guest. For the life of me, I tried and tried to see his friend, but could not. I guess that I do not have that talent, but their conversation was very interesting. I really would not have eves dropped, but for the fact I could not see his partner.

They keep invisible so no one sees there homepage which has the very unique business plan of using flashing banners, amazon links to favorite books and Google Adsense advertisements.

They dont want their secret Out to just anyone....

Yes... I showed up as online almost for a whole week when I was offline the entire week. If you don't log out (I rarely actually click the log out link) you show as online and as a ghost in threads you may have left long ago. It's fun to have a fellow abw'er mention you are in a thread you left hours ago....

And the "sometimes mods don't want to be followed around" is exactly a good reason some mods choose to be invisible. To assume that invisible people are bad people is a really really bad assumumption!!! I see invisible people and like most of them

Deb, you read my post wrong.

I'm not assuming that all invisible people are bad people. All I was trying to say is that when someone is working undercover, they don't wear a uniform, and much less a sign that say "My name is xxx and I am working undercover"

I don't make that post to expose anyone, but just to try to figure out what is the use to wear a sign that say that you're invisible, when in fact you're not.

Who knows, maybe I got some x-ray vision, and I am the only one that see the invisible people.

This thread can be close or deleted now, I think that I might have just blown my own cover.

As a mod I can see things now that I couldn't before. So just to let Mr. Sal know. Working naked doesn't make you invisible either. And I didn't know you knew nakedgamer? I have some lounge pants for you guys.
