Question So - What Makes a KILLER "New Aff Program" Announcement?
    Hey guys,

Something that I always do before I make a "special offer" or
"paid announcement" post is I carefully observe which posts seem to
    attract the most attention.

So for example, in this forum's "New Affiliate Programs &
Announcements" section, several of the posts only have 20 views or
so - while others have been viewed THOUSANDS of times...

It goes without saying that the headline, the commission
and the actual member who made the post have a lot to do with
    the performance of the ad.

However, that said, as a "newbie" to this forum, I'm still at a loss in regards
to what exactly is a perfect recipe for a truly EFFECTIVE, attention-
    grabbing announcement...

I see a number of threads with very vague headlines that have 1000+
views, while others with specific headlines and what seem to be
attractive commissions are still under 50 views.

I would assume that this may be a result of the member who posted it,
as well as the target market involved...

--> So what makes a "Killer" affiliate program announcement?

--> What do YOU need to see as an affiliate to first of all click on a
headline - let alone consider the offer?

And, if I may press a bit more...

--> What is the most important factor in deciding to join (or not join)
a new affiliate program - if you reach that market?

Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated.

(My partner and I are about to announce our affiliate program through
    this forum...)

    Sincerely,

    Chris Rempel

    Hi Chris,

I'm a newbie affiliate and from my experience I like to join and work with those merchants that are in constant contact and address my concerns and provide tools that I request.

I don't like AMs that constantly put me under pressure of discontinuing a relationship because of *inactivity* , as a newbie I'm dealing with many things and it's important for the AM to have patience with newbies.

I join *all* merchants as *time permits*, as long as they don't participate with parasitic affiliates.

I don't join merchants who are affiliates themselves or have leaks .

Merchant links should have good landing pages that matches the description or picture on the links.

interest in a program is a function of perceived relevance to the individual's sites.

mileage of an announcement definately varies.

What I noticed here at ABW is that people here are very united.
So if the announcement is given by a person who is a long-term ABW member and respected by everyone (like Geno, for example), it is doomed to be a success.

So it is not enough just to pay money, you should earn it to be successful here

It's really a combination of things. Hitting just one or two areas doesn't cut it. The most successful program announcements include most or all of the following:
    • Announced by an OPM or AM with a stellar reputation.
    • A parasite-free program with no leaks, preferably on SAS.
    • A good datafeed, available both on the network and outside the network.
    • GoldenCAN, preferably free of fourth click.
    • Phone tracking, many return days, and commissions that are above average for their industry.
    • An activation bonus for putting up links.
    • A bonus for using GoldenCAN or datafeed.
    • A bonus for the first order.
    • A bonus for orders over a certain size.

    Michael,

    Why GoldenCAN over Datafeedfile?
Just wondering cos we are not on either one.

It cost the same to affiliates right = free.

GoldenCan is more expensive for merchants to start up and everything is the same after that. Correct me if I am wrong

An announcement that is different (in its appeal to affiliates) from all other ones... Make it worth the affiliate's time to join, put up your links and send you sales. Reward them for their work. Put yourself into their shoes, and set it your goal to be a beam of sunlight to their all-so-often-lacking-this-warmth affiliate life...

Thanks everyone - your feedback is very informative.

I truly appreciate your responses, and I'll be modifying our affiliate program (and our announcement) to be as appealing as possible.

While I don't have as much time as I'd like to build rapport within the forum, you can rest assured that I'll be as active as I possibly can.

    Thanks again,

    -Chris Rempel

    Chris,

As an AM who just launched a new program, I can honestly say that all of the above items are spot on. I also think that communication is the key. Always be available and always listen to affiliates concerns. I look at it from a standpoint of that I'm working for them, because the better my affiliates do, the better my program does.
