For the record:

    -----Original Message-----
    From: Andy Rodriguez

    To: 'Steve Kerber'
Subject: Morpheus Shopping Club / TigerDirect

    Dear Steve,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that as of today, April 30, 2002, I am deactivating your affiliate account with TigerDirect and placing it under review. This means you will not be earning any affiliate commissions beyond this date until your account is activated again.

The reason for this action is that it has been brought to our attention and we have seen enough proof to suggest that BuyersPort.com is redirecting and overwriting affiliate links. Using the Morpheus BHO (Browser Helper Object) on the Morpheus Shopping Club, the software overwrites the original affiliate link and does not allow the original affiliate to get credit or earn their commission on the sale.

Steve, I have spent many months building and earning the trust of thousands of our affiliate partners. I work with many in very close relationships and can't allow this to go on with our program. Although I appreciate BuyersPort.com sending us the increase in traffic and sales, I will not allow any one affiliate to hijack and affect our present relationships with our other affiliates. This is not acceptable.

Please feel free to get back to me when we can continue offering your visitors our great deals while allowing our other affiliate partners to continue earning their commissions in a fair and ethical manner.

Thank you in advance for your time in this matter,

If this letter to a parasite hijacker doesn't say it all to any reputable merchant ...nothing will. Nice job Andy and I congratulate your ethics and company's comittment to sound business practices. You sure won't get caught up in this controversy when this soon to be illegal activity is shut down by the courts. The consumer backlash is just starting as all these Adware viruses continue to trash the users computers.

As an "acclaim point" merchant at BeFree and their #1 converting merchant you should send a copy of this letter to BeFree's staff for comment and post it at affiliate related boards where ever you find them. Shoot a copy to www.scumware.com for posting on their front page and you'll recruit more affiliates. Also post it at Revnews.com where I refuse to post since it's a haven for the parasites.

Andy, I am not presently an affiliate of your programs but, after seeing several of your posts today I will be taking a serious look.

It's pleasing to see a merchant who actually checks to see that their affiliates are happy

    Micro,

    Thank you.

Fair is fair. I am just doing the right thing. I was watching closely for a while, I was waiting for positive proof. This is a 2 way business, you need the trust factor.

Yes, it will have an effect on my bottom line. It will take me a little longer to reach my million dollar goal by years end. Buyersport was a good monthly, 5 digit revenue producer, but I am confident that I will recuperate that lost revenue very soon.

We are gaining strength everyday. We are increasing revenue daily. I am coming out with more ways to help you generate sales.

If every affiliate on this board chips in, designates a section of their website for Tiger's great deals, we will not have any problems meeting our goals. Hec, with our new e-mails, it's a 5 minute cut and paste operation. Fresh content, great deals and maybe 15 minutes a week maintenance.

Many of our affiliates have already sent me PM's today and vouched their support. One has never featured "computers" on her site, she asked me to help her set up the section. I told her that she never new which one of her visitors would buy a $999.99 computer system. I am getting ready to help her out.

One thing my Dad always taught me, integrity is a true measure of a persons character - and that cannot be bought.

We will overcome, onward we go...

    Andy,

Way to go...good job...when people start taking a stand like yours, it will send some serious signals that stealing links and commissions is not an acceptable practice.

    Thumbs up dude.

    Andy,

    First Congrats!

You say you are going to take a loss on this and I disagree.

Since the traffic they were sending was stolen in the first place who do you think they were stealing from? Us is the answer and I don't think you will see as much of a loss as predicted. Instead you will get more sales to those of us who honestly earned it.

Andy, I wonder about this. Since these folks are stealing traffic that presumably would have gone to TigerDirect in any event, are you really losing anything? Just food for thought.

I'm not one of your affiliates but plan on developing a project and joining your team.

    Andy,

I never even tried to promote anything like TigerDirect. However, I think that is going to change. Good Karma will surely follow you!

    Mklangl,

Thank you. Mmany merchants here have never promoted TigerDirect.

Every single one of your website visitors is a potential TigerDirect customer, simply due to the fact that they are online with a computer.

We have over 70,000 products in stock, all of you have the potential to make money. We convert well and we pay timely, every month.

This new e-mail campaign i made available to our affiliates should make it easy for all of you to take 5 minutes and create a new page on your site. Once it is created, COPY & PASTE our HTML creative there with your site ID.

These e-mails work. Very well. Place a text link on your homepage, direct to your affiliate id encoded HTML e-mail and you are set. No need to blast out to your list if you don't want to. These are being designed with you in mind, no 800 #, no leakage.

How much easier can I make this folks? Let me help you make money !!

"Andy, I wonder about this. Since these folks are stealing traffic that presumably would have gone to TigerDirect in any event, are you really losing anything? Just food for thought."

The fact is that the hijackers not only steal our targeted traffic ( which they can't duplicate) sent to TigerDirect but add commissionable links in URL redirects and double dip Andy costing him more money. Every single merchant on Haikos "parasite" list will impact sales conversions for the 100 million downloaders visiting your sites. These guys (merchants and scumlords) plan on putting you out of business. Merchants, since they never were good a paying the affiliate masses and now get to steal sales from their competition, and the hijackers who setup Internet toll booths monitizing every shopping link.

Let every merchant know that this cute enticing babe has AIDS. Jump in bed with her for a thrill ride on a queen bee and your affiliate force of worker bees will wither a die leaving you just at the mercy of the Advertising wanks. They just don't get it that the 100 million eyeballs they kidnapped will revolt over losing control of their systems and mouse.

    Update:

Buyersport e-mailed me back. They "seem" to be addressing the issues. Let's hope that they feel the pressure and they play fair so that the rest of our partners can continue in the affiliate marketing business.

Let me make myself clear: We have no problem with having Buyersport or anyone else as an affiliate. We do have a serious problem in the "way" they are generating their revenue by technologically stealing commissions from under our other partner's noses. That is not acceptable. We removed WhenU and will continue to remove any affiliate partner that steals from our other affiliates.

    "Quote:

    Andy,

I received your message informing me that you have chosen to suspend our relationship pending a review. WURLD Media will take the necessary steps to inform our consumers that you are not currently participating in our rebate offering for any purchases made during this period.

During initial development of our BuyersPort product, WURLD Media’s focus was consumer and retailer specific. BuyersPort Shopping Club offers retailers exposure to tens of millions of customers via the largest shopping club on the Internet while allowing consumers to earn cash rewards, as purchases are made online. We understand the issues that have been expressed to us by the affiliate management companies concerning other e-commerce publishers and we are committed to creating a solution.

Our development team is currently working on an upgrade under the advice and participation of executives from major retailers and affiliate management companies. WURLD Media will be introducing this upgrade in the Morpheus 2.0 release; distribution of this technology is estimated within the next seven to ten days.

We appreciate the communication and advice from members of the affiliate community who have taken the time to contact us, express their concerns, offer advice and help us fine tune our product offerings. WURLD Media values all of our retail partners and will be contacting your executive management team next week to address misunderstandings and concerns and to discuss additional business opportunities. We look forward to a continued profitable relationship with Tiger Direct.

    End Quote"

We will take a wait and see attitude, they have been shut down at Tiger. Let's see what happens...whatever they come up with will have to be tested and continually monitored for compliance IMO. We have plenty here that will be willing to do this task.

In the meantime, let's get some sales !!!!

Sure, they try to act like they are concerned about being fair now that they have been accused of embezzling retailer money and stealing affiliates' commissions.

The damage has been done, and it will take years before all copies of the first release are off users' PCs.

Aside from the money, these guys are going to end up smearing the name of affiliate marketing to the general public when shareholders and officers of companies like Walmart start to get informed of the scam.

HFN! It will not! I have a fast and easy download fix in the works, can be ready tomorrow, but give it an extra day, to tweak it , I'm beta testing it now ... look for it at Morpheus-Pos.com (DNS needs to propagate).
