I am averaging 3 virusses a day from someone out there: None of which are getting through, by the way I do wish however that the hacker might put their talents towards more useful persuits, such as involuntarily scrubbing scumware off of peoples computers...lol.

OK question form the not so computer savy person. How do I know if I am getting these viruses and how do I keep them away from my comp? I do have nortons antivirus. But... is that enough? TIA

So far, it's been enough for me to stop them. Just don't fall for the 'fix' that also comes...says it's a microsoft update...don't believe it.

Anew, by mistake I opened one of the dozens of these I am getting a day and it wound up on my machine. Once it had, Norton wouldn't run, so be careful. I used the link posted elsewhere in this section to get rid of the thing.

I'm certainly no expert, but to the best of my knowledge I've never had a virus either ... but then again, I don't use Microsoft email (I use Netscape) and, I don't open attachments if I don't know what they are - period!

My sister recently had a virus that attacked her email and her computer sent out the virus to everyone in her "sent" email folder - my mother ended up with the same virus (that was fun trying to fix over the telephone with a non-computer savvy person) ...

My sister's on computer virus scan software couldn't find it, but this free online virus scan did: HouseCall free virus scan

One way this could have been avoided is if she didn't use the "standard" email folders that "everyone" uses - which are usually: Inbox, Outbox, Sent, Deleted, etc... you can rename these files to something of your own liking (i.e. MyMailbox) and if a virus similar to one that my sister had does attach itself to your computer, it wouldn't be able to spread the virus ....

I've never had any luck with installed virus scan software - but I've been using the free Housecall online virus scan for several years now, and I like it ...

    just some thoughts

Just checked, OE6 does not allow renaming inbox, outbox, sent folders.
