I'm so sad, after two years of fabulous service with no downtime my host is closing down because of health problems.

He's given me 6 months notice which is great but I'm already getting stressed out wondering where I'm going to find an another which will provide great hosting, wonderful prices, domain rego and domain parking for domains I just can't stop myself buying!

Oh misery...misery...gee and I was having such a good day before this!

MJ,
Be very, very thankful you host gave you that much notice. I hear many stories about other hosts, and there have been quite a few that just close shop with no notice to their clients. Its a bad situation all the way around. If 6 months notice is indicative of his service (and it sounds like it is) it's unfortunate that he has to close, especially because of health problems.

Yes, it is indicative of the service he provides, sad<IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon36.gif>

He is so stressed worrying about how he is letting his clients down and asked if I had any suggestions to make it easier for them...! He's just TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

I had to remind him not to stress out,
6 to 9 months was plenty of notice and everyone will understand his health
is a priority.
I hope he gets well, we certainly need more people like him in this world.

Mouse babe...buy his business...it may be cheaper for you to do that than change.

Make him an offer - some cash up front and a percentage of revenue until you reach XXX amount.

You got to love that Fred... Not a bad thought, really. Doesn't hurt to try.

One other point, does he own his own servers. Maybe he is a reseller, find out who he is selling for and host with them if that be the case.

@Professor, I'd love to but I wouldn't know where to start, great idea though!

@Tribune, he has his own servers, and I know nothing about that side of things, shame it would be a good way to go.

@CEO his name is Jim Carey, not the comedian although he does have a great sense of humor

MJ,

You don't have to know anything about servers. That's what employees are for.

Employees...lol! who will work my hours,
7am to 1.am, or times like now, when it's 5.am and the "bug" has woken me up
with another idea!

I thought it was just a matter of plugging in the box, then figuring out how everything worked.
Don't think I'd like to go into hosting
for others, I enjoy the affiliate game,
but I guess I should look into the server issue.

Thanks mousejockey & I guess yes you should stick to your own biz. though for someone who can see to some of the technical issues, Prof's idea was a good one....

Mouse babe,

Do a deal with him...auction the biz on eBay.

You set the auction up and if it sells for his price you get lifetime free hosting.
