That's a subdomain, and you don't have to buy it.

You just buy the base domain like usual. Putting on a subdomain is just a matter of how you configure your site and the DNS. How exactly to do it varies by which particular system you/your host uses.

Possible catch: I think some shared hosts don't allow subdomains.

When you buy a domain, it's just the domain (abestweb.com). What subdomains you support and what services you offer are entirely depending on what you set up (and what your host supports). All you need to do is set up the DNS configuration for "forum.abestweb.com" and set up your web server to handle it. Your host should be able to point you in the right direction.

It is not "forum" rather than "www". Www is still relevant.

    example........
    www-forum-mysite-com
    www-shop-mysite-com

forum and shop are subdomains and can behave just like mysite.com.
With the 2 subdomains, you can have 3 sites or more, depending on your webhost.

ABW's proper forum address is http://forum.abestweb.com with NO "www."

Not including "www" on subdomains is proper. "www" itself is technically a subdomain, so to add it to other subdomains would make a double-subdomain.

It is a subdomain. To get is you just register a domain the way you'd normally register it, but when you buy a hosting plan for the domain read the host's subdomain rules and limitations carefully. Hosts would sometimes limit the number of subdomains you can use (unless you're on some "unlimited subdomains" deal), but all hosts normally support them. Just readh the terms of service of the hosting package you're choosing.

Some hosts allow you to do unlimited subdomains on all plans.

Whatever hosting company you choose to go with - buy your hosting smartly. And by this I mean: first check if they have an affiliate program.
