    Cool
I've been looking forward to today, just to rest up a little. Though I may go fishing this afternoon, weather permitting.

Took yesterday off to celebrate my daughter's 9th b-day and the last day of summer vacation. Kids started back at school today so I am actually able to get a lot of work done to make up for taking yesterday off.

Hubby and I are back from a HUGE vacation for us. We seldom do more than weekends in the summer, but we left on the 19th for a road trip to Colorado, then came home long enough to do laundry and reload the truck.

We spent 8 days on the boat, doing mostly nothing, then came home to spend one evening at the huge Waterfront festival here in Rockford. The weather during the 2nd week was not good for much other than vegging out - but we're very good at that!

All of that adds up to about 18 days of VACATION and it was grand. I came back energized, full of ideas and ready to work. Six loads of laundry, 47 important phone messages, 4 new tires, groceries, etc. have pretty much depleted my gusto, but not my motivation.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday, too!

I'm so glad to be back from a family outing with the camper over the holiday weekend. Mostly nice weather, but rained every night and the camper sprung it's first leak (wife woke up to a wet pillow from a leaking window). Then on the way home doing 65 mph with a 24 foot travel trailer we blew a trailer tire. Shredded it, actually. But made it home safely.

    18? Sheesh....didn't it get old?

I unfortunately didn't get out to my boat. I'm still too new to be comfortable on the water during high usage periods.

I believe that I've been to that festival in Rockford...makes me miss good ol' IL.

Variety of experience, Joe, variety of experience! Leisurely road trip with hotel stay each way, visiting with family, birthday party with 95 year old MIL, tea party with her friends, sightseeing, visiting the Senior Center for lunch so she could "show us off".

Provisioning the sailboat, taking it out on a rough Lake Michigan (twice). Outlet malls, northern port villages, long walks for ice cream, taking the dog for repeated walks in the rain. Staying up all night to read and sleeping in, walking 3/4 mile to grill two hamburgers, vegging in the hot tub.

Nope. Didn't get old. I am sick of laundry now, though. Almost done.

I was a really nut about boat traffic in the first few years. We actually bought headsets so the whole marina wouldn't hear our panicked conversations when we docked or left the dock. I would freak if another boat was on Lake Michigan with us. I'm better now. I've buffed a few scratches out myself.

Are you from Illinois? We miss the Waterfront festival when we stay up North over Labor Day, but this year we picked the wrong day to come home and attend. It started raining just as we got to the stage we were looking for. Carried 4 elephant ears home on the shuttle in a pizza box to keep them dry.

    Judi,

Yes I was raised all around Chicago, most recently the greater Roscoe Village area.

When is Lake Michigan not rough? I have many fond memories of battling 6 footers while reeling in a 12 pound coho. Yummy.

I did what no one else did yesterday. Being that my dsl is still on the fritz I sat in my recliner most of the day and brushed up on a few books I havent touched in a while. I actually read the whole James Martell manual and Joel Comms book while watching those worthless tv shows on VH1. While everyone was out at BBQ'S I was watching c-list celebrities trying to loose weight.

It is good to get back to basics every once in a while. Now I am ready for Christmas.

Only about 5 miles up the road from us. Small world.

lol, I can picture this Vinny!! I have the Joel Comm book in my pool duffle bag, but haven't gotten to the pool to sit and relax and read... I need to read something, anything that isn't backlit... (re: on a monitor!)

Joe, in answer to your question, I had a great time working on sorely neglected websites of my own that needed new templates and new looks and new datafeeds! And because I am *here* when I wanted a break I just took a drive to the west side and hung out at the canyon and then had dinner in the food court of my favorite casino (food is pretty cheap, they want you to spend your money other places!). A roast beef sandwich and an awesome peanut butter cup smoothie (peanut butter chocolate and banana!)

Three days of not answering to anyone but myself... a very new experience for me! And yes, working with/on my photography and digital art *is* relaxing!!!!
