Grrrr... forums hacked - iframe & trojan
I just got finished dealing w/ one of my forums getting hacked. They didn't mess anything up, just dropped in an iframe that tried to install a trojan on users' computers. So, I removed that code, changed my passwords, did a WHOIS on the domain the script was being called from, found the guy (if it's right) is in Boston, Mass & the site is hosted in St. Petersburg, Russia. I emailed the host (hoping it's not the person behind it & that they'll actually do something about it) and submitted a complaint to the FBI.
Some of the members wanted the URL to the virus, and started gathering info on the person... I'm anxious to see if anything else happens w/ this. If anyone else has submitted a complaint to the FBI, did you ever hear back from them?
    Any other suggestions?

The FBI will send you a canned responce and a link on how to secure your server

    Document everything..
Doubt that the FBI will do anything or the webhosting guys will do anything..

If it is a virus and the Boston guy has nothign to do with it (meaning nothing to gain), maybe he is also in the dark.

    That's not very encouraging

I also just emailed Boston Police & the Mass. Attorney General's office.

I'm not expecting anything, really, since this is a relatively minor incident, but I gotta try

If the Boston Police have a cyber crime dept, they might look into it if there are lots of complaints, if not they might just file your complaint somewhere.

Had a friend who lost like $3k on a eBay buying a laptop and there were like 20-30 buyers who also got scammed. Police report, etc and the scammer is still free.
