CJ Webservices FAQ - ABW Support Area
I'm off playing with the new CJ Webservices and already hit a roadblock and I see in the CJ Webservices FAQ we are basically out of luck getting support from CJ on any of this (besides, it takes them weeks to respond to normal questions). I thought it might be helpful if I started a specific thread here at ABW where affiliates could ask questions or list identified problems with the new CJ Webservices and hopefully others here might be able to provide a solution.

So, there goes my question. In the php version of the Commission Junction Demo Product Search it tells you in the README file to:

You will need to enter your Developer Key where it says: put developer key here
You will need to enter your website ID where is says: put websiteID here
Now, getting the Delevoper Key was easy, but what is the Website ID? I tried entering the PID for a specific site of mine but I keep getting this error when I run the php program:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '{' in /home/myservername/public_html/productSearch.php on line 52
Either the coding is wrong (I see both { and}, so not sure about that) or I have the wrong Website ID. Anyone got this to work yet and know what the Website ID is?

You might get a quicker response on their forum:

    http://webservices.cj.com/ws/forum/index.php

Looks like people from CJ are participating there.

I'm still checking it all out.

Thanks! Wonder how I missed that in all of this.

I did post a question, but it does not look like the moderator is actively answering any of them (has not answered any yet, at least).

    Word Of Warning!!!
    WORD OF WARNING!!!

If you send an email to anyone on the CJ Webservices forum, they will see your email address. Although it says your email is never publicly displayed (which it isn't), it will be obviouis to whomever you email something to. What they really need instead is a Private Message (PM) system like ABW has for those who want to communicate privately with each other.

I saw that. Strange, CJ back with a forum.
I don't know how much participation from CJ we'll get. They are not too good to give answers.
Next step, they will have a bunch of angry affiliates asking questions, then they will decide to close the forum and Haiko will start a new A Best Web Service forum.
    Déja vu.

That was before my day but I imagined you guys talked about all sorts of topics, parasites and such. This looks to be focused on webservices, questions and answers, implementation. That kind of thing. It would be to CJ's benefit and the affiliates to participate, help, get the webservices going.

It's not going to have topics like parasites, when will I get paid, is there a delay in reporting etc. It's just about webservices, nothing else.

    Hi Ron,

My php knowledge is rough but it looks like there should be another space on line 91, after the $e):
    } catch (Exception $e){

Also, you can take out the try/catch block (line 52 & line 91 through 96), see what else comes up.

You have to register to get the Developer Key and they will email it to you.

I can say that that video was useless. I don't know what it was for. Maybe I'm just dumb .

Sorry if this was answered, didn't see it, but from the .wsdl file:

    websiteId
(required) The id of one of your websites. The website must belong to the same account as the developer key.

Well, it ain't going to happen tonite.

There's a (show-stopper) dns issue with the new web services. In summary, the host name bean.service.cj.com is used although no (public) dns record has been setup for this host name.

I've also posted this on the CJ board.

Basic question .... what the heck is "web services"? You need not respond as I thought Web2.0 was some kind of social networking disease.

If this is not a beta release, it sure as heck should have been. I tried today and got frustrated and will go off to do other things until they can get this working right.

I have PHP 5.1.1 on a windows platform. I have a developers key and a PID. That's all I modified in your productSearch.php file. Upon loading the file in the web browser, I get the following error:

Fatal error: Class 'SoapClient' not found in /home/domain/public_html/productSearch.php on line 56

    What's the fix for this?

Evidently lots of bugs in the system (that should have been field tested before they went live).

Which brings me to ask, were any affiliates asked to field test this or was it just tested internally like the LMI fiasco was?

    It works
Finally got it to work. Had to look at all the examples and built my own (non-php) demo.

So... there's enough here to get started with. The docs and examples definitely should be tigtened up and a few live examples would be great.

It works the first time I tried it. Just copy the files, enter the info and upload them to server.
