I thought I seen this some place else but couldn't find it anywhere. Some of the merchants sites are bad. Even worse than my own!

Haiko, I was thinking maybe we can have a contest and vote for on the worse site design for merchants. Maybe you can throw in some banner adds for a prize to the winning merchant if they decide to change the site around. We can all email them this thread. The reason for this is there are merchants that have pretty good prices and merchandise but their sites really suck. Any thoughts on this. Anyways!!!! My pick is:

http://www.pacsun.com/

The reason being all the frames, navigation and so on. Any other entries???

Sheesh...Can't believe this....that girl in the swimsuit makes the site looks magnificently sexy...and my packy calls it ugly in design...

She is fantastic in design mate....

That's nothing. I have seen some S-- (network) merchants sites' and even a few on ##(network) that [edited by eaglefire] leave a lot to be desired. As I happen to also belong to their programs and they are honorable - however embarassing it is once the visitor leaves my sites for the merchant's - I will not post their URLs.

Eaglefire, I respect your choice not to list the merchant but the point of this thread is to hopefull wake up some merchants. I think there are alot of good merchants out there but they just need to fix some site problems. Why settle for a sale once in awhile when if a merchant can fix the site design, increase their EPC and increase our sales. I think a lot of merchants think they have a great design but in reality they don't.

TGO I figured out how you can become a Millionare. WoooHooo!

Bottle them Raging Hormones of yours and sell them to someone less fortunate and no thats not me.

Here is one from CJ - it really hurts me to see this site the way it is b/c I know the product sells, in my experience the fellow who runs it is a good guy, and he pays 30% :

Like eaglefire, I don't want to slam or even slight merchants I do promote, but if Ringo's Leather would clean up its site (and its chargeback rate), I'd promote them.

But with the site the way it is... can't do it. [shudder]

I signed up for Love Scent but have been hesitant promoting them because of their design. I am trying to bypass as much of their site as possible with flexible linking.

Yup Cedric, thats the point of this. There are several merchants I would like to try or push but won't because of the site. Maybe some will see this and listen to the constructive comments.

Haiko, any chance of getting spell checker here?

The only site that actually prompted me to complain it was too hard on the eyes for me to promote was Mr. Inkman. Plainly an effort by someone who cuts yards for a living. I'll never choose a CJ merchant til after I've viewed their sites. Only found 10 in the last 6 months that looked professional. The rest plain bad but not butt ugly.

That's another one. I joined their program and have heard some decent things about it but I just can't bring myself to put up their links.

Eaglefire, believe it or not those links for Mr Inkman get tons of clicks. The problem is they don't produce. I think the links are awesome but the only reason they get so many clicks is because people are curious to see whats on the other side.

Jeeesh I have bad taste huh, those are my favorites, lol.

Clicks are OK - but do they convert? I don't care if the merchant's website looks like an old newspaper so long as they convert well.

I've got to agree with Eaglefire, I really don't care if it looks like a dog's dinner as long as it converts!
As long as they allow flexible product links and I can just get them to the checkout quick.

One independent merchant I signed with last week, well their site is just ...ummm, well probably as bad as you'll ever see and worse than you could ever imagine but they convert 1 in 20  as opposed to a sleek cj merchant site selling the same products that converted 1 in 300! So what do I know...!!!!

Besides, one of my sites is a dog,I'm so embarassed by it I hardly ever check it or mention it, just cash the $$$$!
I even received an email from a webmaster saying my web designer should be shot, emailed him back and said it was me...lol!

But the site has been that way since 1998 and it works like crazy... so I'm too afraid to change it...so is beauty in the eye of the beholder!

I agree if a site converts then it doesn't matter. Trust me, I know first hand from my ugly sites.

This thread is about merchants that need help. Like I said in the first post I like the stuff at Pac Sun but they are not a converter and IMO it is because of their site.

3 month EPC $2.90 7 day EPC $1.88

I think they could be a decent converter if they changed their site.

How about that skateboard merchant who has the 6 minute load FLASH intro page all his banners direct to ..he migght as well send them to F**kedcomany.com where the other Flash sites end up. Bigg no no there merchants since Webtrends stats show 87% of all web visitors exit flash intro pages.

"Eaglefire, believe it or not those links for Mr Inkman get tons of clicks. The problem is they don't produce."

That is the purpose for this exercise. Site owners only have 1 minute to make a impression of trust and professionalism. No one in their rigght mind would pull out a credit card at Mr. Inkman. I think www.suspenders.com is kind of ugly now and would like to change it, but the owner Sal Herman says leave it alone. He averages 1 sale per every 20 visitors regardless of source so the visitors rule.

Eaglefire--Just type it into your browser with no asterisks and you'll see it live!

Basically F'dCompany is a site which tells of the downfall of dotcoms. If a dotcom bombs, Pud (Owner of F'dCompany) will put the name of the dotbomb on his site along with a short blurb.

Then people can comment on it, on the totally unmoderated Happy Fun Slander Corner boards! This can get pretty nasty so if you have "tender eyes" you won't stay long...

But explanations can only go so far. If you really want to know just what it is, see it for yourself. Just type in the URL (don't forget to uncensor it) to arrive at one of the most distinctive [although not always the most accurate] sites on the Net!

Oh, and remember that it's comPany instead of comany. Mike's typing is legendary but the URL won't resolve that way.

LOL! OK - I thought it was some sort of sarcastic parody on some company name - never occurred to just put in the obvious substitions and type it in my browser.

My what a saucy site. Reminds me of my days at the Postal Service.

I like article #2 - the one about Kazaa
