woohoo! although i must admit, i am a bit saddened that the braves' streak is over. it was just such an impressive streak.

on the other hand...if you're a mets fan that i'm assuming you probably hated the streak...

The Mets have gotta win it all this year, they are way too good not to. They better at least make it to the Series or some heads should roll.

PS. Anyone see the amazing comeback game by the Dodgers last night against my Padres?

I'll tell you a secret. I have a terrible crush on Jose Valentin and Jose Reyes. I told hubby that if we're fortunate enough to get tickets to the playoffs I will make a t-shirt that says,

    YOOHOO, JOSE!

and wear it to the game. It's been a blast watching the Mets play this year. They're all dear to my heart but I have a real soft spot for the Joses. I don't know how Omar and Willie did it but they assembled a team that's almost like a throwback to how baseball used to be. They're not just a team they're a family, and they have a passion for the game that's just plain fun to watch.

(Brian, the only team that's allowed to beat the Mets is the Red Sox. I'm kind of conflicted that way.)

    great shirt!

i think its amazing how many teams overlooked Jose Valentin, claiming he was passed his prime...and the guy has had an amazing year. Basically everyone on that whole team is having career or near career years. They are fun to watch. But I still love my Padres, as sad as they may be at times.

Good timing on the reply, rcalentine. I'm having severe baseball withdrawal. Hubby is trying to get me interested in football but I just don't enjoy it at all.

I told hubby that when we retire we'll have to spend our winters near the Mets' training camp. That way I can extend the baseball season a bit longer. He's certainly fine with that idea!

What'm I going to do from November to April? :sobbing:

Me too, though I am looking forward to the Mets first playoff game on Wednesday. Can you believe that some people are picking the Dodgers to win the series? What are they thinking???

If your hubby is willing to move, then definitely go for it.

My wife bought me an XM radio last year to help me get through the winter months with baseball talk 24/7 and they broadcast half of the Mets spring training games.

I'll have to check out that XM radio thingy. (Flashing back to being a kid and falling asleep with a transistor radio on my pillow.)

It would be so exciting to have a subway series, but only if the Mets win. Ooh, that would be sooooo sweet! Might shut those pesky Yankees fans up for a few minutes!

    Go Mets!!!

Swept the Dodgers. Unfortunately, no subway series. But with the Yankees out of the playoffs, the Mets prove they are the better team in NY this year.

Reah, you do need to check out XM radio. It is a great way to get baseball during the off-season.

Detroit is the only real competition the Mets will have. They will roll over St Louis in the NLCS.

Watch for Steinbrenner to let Joe Torre go soon. Bobby Cox to the Yanks?????? Nah....that has to be a rumor.

whoa, that was a nice double play. That would have sucked if it went over after Randolph going to mound.

Nice repeat of the first homerun try. Looks like the Mets will have to wait till next year before getting whooped by the Detroit Tigers unless they can get 2 more runs...

I cannot believe that Beltran let that curve go by him when it was so close with two strikes... with so much at stake. What a great pitch though.

As the great Ernie Harwell says:
"He stood there like a house on the side of the road and watched it go by!"

Our bats went cold and that was that.

Good luck, Tigers. Something about the Cardinals just ain't right so I'm rooting for you to beat 'em up. But especially Eckstein. I hate that guy!

Normally I would prefer the Cardinals over the Tigers, but since they managed to beat the Mets, I'm going to be a sore loser and cheer for the Tigers.

That curve ball is going to haunt Beltran until opening day 2007. What a terrible way to end game 7 of the NLCS for him and the Mets.

Though I do not follow or watch bees bal I picked the Cards to take it all. One to go - then I'll decide whether to stay in online marketing or become an odds maker for one of the big Vegas casinos!!

Yeah, congrats St. Louis. They certainly demonstrated they're the best team. I guess I shouldn't feel so bad that they beat the Mets.

The Mets had a heck of a season, just got outplayed in the nlcs. Hopefully next year they give you the trophy. In the meantime - you've got HOCKEY!!
