Access to Datafiles from SAS and CJ
Is it better to go with SAS datafeeds or pay the $200 and get cjs?

It depends on your site traffic and what merchants you need. If the merchants you want are at Shareasale, then use those! If you need merchants that are on CJ, email the merchant and see if they have a datafeed off the network you can access, many do.

I think it's better to get private feeds outside the networks. Problem with network feeds is there is a delay from the point that the feed is sent to them from the merchant and the point that you receive the feed. By eliminating the middleman you can get more frequent updates and sometimes better data.

well thats the big thing.. how the heck are cj going to be able to pay you for sales or make sure the merchant dont screw you over unless you go through cj

It would be like having links through cj for area rugs
then having them give you ther inhous feed..

now your dealing with 2 different things.. isnt it better to keep them together.. that way cj is the one cutting the check

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

The feeds I am talking about are the same feeds you get from CJ only from the merchant directly, with the cj tracking links.

You need to spend time today reading instead of typing

Talking SAS vs CJ (from product datafeed point of view)
Let's look at this question from the NUMBER OF MERCHANTS point of view.

I have dealt with a lot of datafeed files. More than most people.
Our company imports almost every datafeed in the industry.

Here are what the numbers look like:

    Commision Junction - 532 merchants
    LinkShare - 115 merchants
    Share a Sale - 239 merchants

Is $200 worth it for 532 merchants? That is up to you.
Remember it is what you do with the file that really matters.

Number of merchants, types of merchants, number of products per feed, relevancy to your sit traffic, quality of merchants, duplication of products between merchants, number of feeds PER merchant... Andrew, those numbers aren't totally accurate because there is a lot of redundancy in the CJ feeds. Mind you I am not arguing that someone shouldn't pay for access, I certainly did and am very glad I did. But pointing out the shear number of feeds has no point, since there are a large number of factors that go into deciding what networks to use, and what feeds to access.

Definitely true, pointing out the number of feeds per network only cover one aspect of the reason.

I was only trying to help by pointing out the percentages and numbers from something REAL or from my own experience.

Whether someone should or should not pay $200 ultimately depends on their traffic of their site.

Some of the CJ merchants are also at Performics, and you can get the feeds for free there.

People need to work with the networks that have the tools and merchants they need, that may require spreading yourself across several networks... and if you are presenting the proper merchants and products for your site's traffic you shouldn't have a problem with minimum payments. That is certainly not a reason to pay for access to feeds at CJ if you can get them at Performics and you prefer that interface.
