how to get back links new site
I have been trying very hard to get some back links to my website.
The site is 6 months old.

I am doing google and yahoo search for "keyword" + submit url..getting some results

Sending emails to the websites after adding their link on my website.
So fart sent between 60-70 emails/submissions in the last 4 weeks.

    Only one link so far..

its so frustrating...what am I missing?

    Exclamation
do the prospective sites have a "links" page?

I get requests quite often regarding sites I have where there is no links page and won't be one.

Not knowing what your site is about, maybe you have nothing worth linking to. Or you've got a shopping site that conflicts with their own efforts.

How's your content. Do you offer original, informative, exciting content that will make the link worth it?

You might want to use the power of web 2.0 if yours is a content oriented site, even slightly. search which blogs talk about the stuff you do, post relevent comments on posts you like, socialize and ask the bloggers to link back to you. it's it takes time, but it's fun, and very effective.

Excellent suggestion ... the key is to make a relevant comment (don't look like a spammer) ... create something that others would enjoy & would want to check out on your site.

    Hi likemynick,

Try the same search engines but instead of "keyword" + submit url try:

    "keyword" + directory submit

There are countless Directories out there who are willing to include you for free. Many require payment for inclusion but there are enough free ones to get you off to a good start.

Bear in mind what Poopie Nubert said - no original content will likely end up wasting your time.

    Best of luck,

Try some other variations besides "submit url".

Try "add url", "add your link", "add your website", ...

Personally, I have had luck with "KEYWORD/PHRASE" "ADD URL" .

    1) I tried a few blogs and was able to find people with same interest with similar kind of websites and emailed them. I got 1 reply back.
    2) I tried "keyword" + directory ..I haven't tried the paid inclusions..tried the free inclusion and got 1 reply back.

Rick, I'm NOT picking on you in any way, but using you as an example.

LikeMyNick specifcally asked for help on backlinks, and you suggested the cure is linking to a site that has a PR of zero, and unrelated links on the links page.

That won't help her - it'll hurt her.

Backlinking is time-consuming, frustrating, important, and necessary - and there's no room for errors. And you have to monitor it the same way you monitor expiring coupon codes.

But if you do it right, the payoff is well worth the hassle.

Just my opinion of course - and again - not picking on Rick

However ! i don,t know what your last post has to do with this (Rick, is your Goog PR Zero?) guestion.
    Reread:

LikeMyNick specifically asked for help on backlinks, and you suggested the cure is linking to a site that has a PR of zero, and unrelated links on the links page.

That won't help her - it'll hurt her.

    global, you missed my point.

goog wants quality, related backlinks - not mass quantities of backlinks
