Art.com - Where's The Love To Your Coupon Affiliates?
"As of October 1, 2006, all Coupon Affiliates will have their
commissions lowered to a flat 5% on all qualifying sales."

That's quite a drop from the 25% - 30%. Wonder if Allposters is going the same route since they're both owned by the same people.

Eric - they are the same company - AllPosters and Art.com merged awhile back - they both suck these days anyway compared to a couple of years ago

Lots of dots here.... and lots of pissed off affiliates I can see.... and they didn't sign the email with an affiliate manager's name. A couple of months ago they were looking for an affiliate manager, wonder if they ever even hired one.....

Vendors are starting to realize that when they ask for a coupon code at checkout, a lot of folks are going to go looking for one

In MANY cases, they wind up paying commission to an affiliate on a customer they acquired themselves.

Well the 5% is only for coupon affiliates. If you don't post coupons, you can have the 25% - 30%

Eh, I never used a coupon, and they are classifying me as one anyways. Just got a nice check from them today, too. Was thinking real nice thoughts about them until I got the email a few minutes ago.

    Grrr!

Apparently if you have ever posted a coupon, used a coupon, talked about coupons, thought about coupons, posted a link to their program or breathe, you are now considered a couponer and are subject to the new 5% solution.

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

I'm confused (for a change). How do you know whether you've been designated a coupon site or not? Do you just assume that if you received the emails that you've been designated as a couponer?

Thats a good question. What if they consider any order with a coupon code entered... from a coupon site?

What if a customer was refered from a 'non coupon site' but grabbed a code off of a 'coupon site' without setting a cookie from that site?

Just wondering, I don't promote them anyway...

That's probably the problem right there. 5% for posters/art is a joke, coupons or not. Allposters has always been my favorite out of the bunch but there are other poster merchants in the networks and indy.

I haven't been a part of the poster merchants listed here, and I don't plan on being one based on this info. In fact, a merchant who likes to throw arbitrary numbers on a whim, makes me nervous (a sign that they don't seem to really care about their hardworking affiliates). Thanks for the heads up.

I think some people assumed that anyone who received the email(s) were in the 5% commission group. That's not necessarily true. Apparently all affiliates received the email(s).

To find out which group you're in, if you haven't yet had a sale this month, do a test purchase through your own links and see if the commish comes up as 5 or 25 percent. Then you can cancel the order.

Just received that email from Allposters too...

i wonder, does it really have something to do with the non-existance of the AM there :-)

    lol
(that would be 99.8% of their members?)

i doubt that they have a system in place to cross reference SITE.CODE orders and match it to Linkshare's DB. That takes some resources. they might have gotten somebody to categorize websites when they approved you or 1/2 way through.

Linkshare? I know Art.com use to be with them for a little bit, Allposters was always indy, I believe. Not they're both indy, both owned by same group.

You would think they would want coupon sites since they are in bed with "Shopper Rewards." They are sending all customers right off to a free shipping/bargain/cashback site with a $10 incentive upon checkout. Interesting. What are the other poster sites? I guess it is time to switch out.
