The blues are looking the same to me. So the #1 are Leaderboards 728x90 with 25%?

I don't think that translates to affiliate banners, I don't see many of those, wish there were more. I think you see more of that on the adserving, CPM type networks.

Yes. Look at the numbers (last column)...

Probably so. The research wasn't focused on the affiliate industry for sure.

i think leaderboard and wide skyscraper is sure growing but not to that extend. Of most of the affilaites that I have seen, most are either 468*60 or skyscraper or smaller

They probably have a different definition of "popularity"

Or it shows how stupid most affiliate managers come to the needs of their affiliates when it comes to banner sizes. While I will agree, banner advertising is not where its at, it still accounts for some traffic. And if you are going to make a freaking banner, why are you still making 500 468x60 sized banners and 0 728x90? I would like to fill my defaults with affiliate ads, but it is almost impossible.

I have posted requests for sizes before, pretty much fell on deaf ears, geno an exception of someone who listened and gets it.

88x31 is my favorite. I can fit it in just about anywhere, it converts wonderfully and it's great for creating lists of merchants. Too bad it's not listed here though - there's already a problem with merchants providing it. This chart won't be helping that problem.

Is there a methodology somewhere? I haven't found it on their website.
What exactly does the "popularity - measured by the number of creative elements" mean? Did they simply count the number of creative types from some web ad agencies? Did they weigh them according to the deployment (PV, days, whatever)?

On a side note - nice to see the full banner decline. It's the format that suffers from banner blindness the most, IMO.

Scott, thank you for posting this info. This is very interesting to hear. I was always wondering how that converts for affiliates.

No clue. I found the chart on their site. You may want to e-mail them.

It would be nice if one of the industry mags would publish charts showing the best converting banner sizes for product types. Now that would be interesting!
