Why not put a website together yourself, and feature gourmet meals from a good merchant?!

You can't get PMs yet since you don't have enough posts.
So you'll need to post another way to contact you.

By the way, how about the recipes without the music?
And, those recipes are free of copyrights, correct? I don't want any C&Ds (cease-and-desists) coming if I buy 'em.

where does this info come from I may be in the market, but i need to know it has no copywritten issues or that it is the result of scraping a site or something. Is there anywhere I can see a sample?

Yeah, I'd like to see a sample, too. I need to see what it's going to take to get them up onto the site.

And, I want to know about the copyrights as well. I already asked

Right away, and didn't get an answer. I'd like an answer here, before I email.

I've found the site, but unfortunately I didn't see any samples to look at.

They're on EV1...I don't see the significance... Isn't that just a big server company?

Leader I'd love to hear your take on this

There is only one place on google with a match to the dip.... http://allrecipes.com/recipe/artichoke-dip/detail.aspx "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED Copyright 2006", but is that for the whole page, the recipe or other content?

MSN shows the same recipe on 4 or 5 sites and yahoo shows a few more. Given the recipe is out there what is reasonable here.....

Not looking for the recipe only parts of it, slight update the omitted results include two of the other sites listed on msn and yahoo.

    from http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl122.html

Mere listings of ingredients as in recipes, formulas, compounds or pre-scriptions are not subject to copyright protection. However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection.
To take the Artichoke Dip example:-

Copyright is probably not an issue as what does or does not constitute "substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions" is unclear and the directions are somewhat short.

Also, the initial source of the recipe is also unclear, as in specifically written for a particular project, book, site, or is it a long-time family recipe? In this case I suspect the latter given the recipe was "submitted."

However, content duplication would be a concern.

    Great info WOZ,

My fear is that one recipe borrowed could be just one part of a larger collection and the only way to tell would be to get a larger sample of the database.

if a larger % of the recipes is found within the same location, that would validate the "when there is a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection" part of what you mentioned.

I happen to have a kitchen site I'm developing content for, but being selective rather than looking for volume. Personally, in all my time of cooking, I've never, ever used a recipe in its original form without modifying. So my ingredient list is always different from the original. Plus, descriptions of techniques are unique from person to person.

Also we offer for you 25 traditional Carol's Songs, 41 traditional songs and 231 midi files to add into your site.
There's the sticky wicket where copyright is concerned. BMI and ASCAP don't play, nor do record companies and music publishing houses.

I decided against it after all, too iffy...
Granted they could be submissions, but I can get submissions myself for $0 and not have to just hope the recipes are ones I can use.

They won't play for free, that's for sure!
Of course, someone *could* pay all the royalties that would normally go with publication, but judging by the reluctance of sites to do that, it must cost a boatload of money.
