a question about link generation in CJ
Here is my question that sent to CJ. Seems they are pretty slow to respond. So, I am seeking help on this forum, which seems very active:

    ---
I was trying to generate a link with our affiliate id for the following item (from CompUSA): http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...dard_Zoom_Lens

However, I could not find that item when I search the product from CompUSA in cj. Is it possible that I input an url to get another url which contains our affiliate id? Or, is it possible to redirect any url so that our affiliate id is included?

Is there a programatical way to generate link automatically?

Just use http://www.************/click-PID-AID?url=(url to the page that you want to link to).

I used "generate text link" to get a link. Seems the first part fits into the format of http://www.************/click-PID-AID

Then, I just added url= and copied and pasted the url after that. See the following link:

    http://www.************/click-216523...dard_Zoom_Lens

However, the problem is that the link does not redirect me to the product. It redirect me to a page containing a list of items (including that item). Also, in the page, it won't let me click each indivisual item. I can only as it into the card.

BTW, is my PID fixed? And, is a AID fixed for a store?

And, is that http://www.************/ fixed for each store?

    Thanks a lot!

    Try http://www.************/click-PID-AI...1&pfp=EXTERNAL

Your PID is in your account under Account and then Web site Settings.

Each merchant has an AID, which you can get from an affiliate link. CompUSA would be 10290050.

The other link you posted looks like it was part of a search result. Maybe that's why it didn't work, it wasn't the actual product link. Just a guess.

This seems to work also http://www.************/click-PID-AI...ct_code=341751, just need the SKU of the product.

The xxxxx.com is automatically blocked out by the Abestweb system. Just look at the product url and add your aff link part.

This is the link generated based on your suggesetion, seems it does not work:
    http://www.************/click-216523...ct_code=341751

I did try it on some other store, it was working. I guess this is a problem with CompUSA

I think it is not that simple. I do see different AID for the same store when I generate links from different places... For example, buy.com has different AID...

Also, the url redirect is not always working...

Another thing I noticed is that http://www.************/ also varies...

I think AID is really not unique for each store... There are many AIDs for one store... Only if we used the correct AID, it might be working I guess

Doh, I knew it but forgot. AID is the AD id, not the merchant id

    http://www.************/click-PID-10...1&pfp=EXTERNAL

It seems to work with the &pfp=EXTERNAL. If I remove it, it doesn't work.

    edit:
I take that back, now it just worked either way.

I happened to get it working this time... I used a link generated by searching the product... I guess that AID does matter... Still, I need to use the link directly linked to the product...

I don't understand why CJ does not have a good document for such an important and basic thing...
