Take a look at the following url
http://auto.search.msn.com/

I searched for a website and this came up instead, I can't believe its part of the MicroSoft Network, take a look at the search terms, a lot of adult related stuff there, I never though MS would sink that low...

Yeah, that's the regular MSN Search.

Funny, I only see an across-the-board coverage of interests mentioned there, like at any fairly large search site which lists categories.

Example:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>
Shopping

Auctions, Automotive, Cards & Gifts, Classifieds, Online Stores...<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

That's too funny....where your adult stuff is, mine is Personals....
Family, Health, Home, Kids, Relationships, Religion & Belief

Jay, this may sound stupid, but try clearing out all of your cookies, history....clean everything up, and try viewing it again and see what comes up

TH Media, I have a cookie washer that deletes all cookies when I boot my system so I'm pretty sure I got a forced download from somewhere which is doing some funny things to my system, as I said before all the search results are not powered by MSN but by
http://www.coolwebsearch.com/

Anybody have any info on the above website?

You picked up a "driveby download" BHO virus that changed all the browser search settings. The whois database basically says they are a porno spamm farm posing as a search engine. Also look for dialer.exe since they probably tried to change your dialout account info to charge you 3.00 per minute for web access.

JJJ,

Forward your screenshot to MSN, they may take legal action against these bozos! Apparently they are using some sort of BHO to overwrite browser address bar. What you see as msn search is some other website that looks like msn search page (in fact, exact copy of the design!) but not.

There are no mature internet laws, but this looks like something that can not be ignored.

About time MS's love of the legal system worked to people's advantage.

Wowsers.. definitely looks like a drive-by scumware download.

I had a look at microsoft.public.msn.discussion on Google and couldn't find a reference to it.. maye download AdAware and scan your PC?

I ran an old version of Ad Aware and it found nothing, so I downloaded the latest version and it found the following,

Started registry scan
======================
Alexa key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\internet explorer\extensions\{c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a}\

Started extended registry scan
===============================

Registry scan result:
Suspicious keys found : 1

Nope, it's a fake page because the graphics etc are different. For example, the "Search" button should have a butterfly on it and there are missing navigation elements on the fake site.. must be a scumware BHO.

Have a look at this http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...1313.780c60ae% 40posting.google.com&frame=off in Google groups which seems to have some information on this.

However, it definitely looks like something MS should be aware of.. but they probably won't give a damn
