    Question Affiliate Summit 2007....Vegas
I'm looking at Affiliate Summit 2007 in Vegas. I attended CJU and found it to be very valuable. Anyone been to one (or a couple) of this particular event that can give some advice on whether the $1,449 Full Conference Pass package is worth it over the $299 Exhibit Hall only package. While I do enjoy some good speakers, I am 80% going for networking purposes.

    Thanks.

It depends on your goals. If you don't need to hear the speakers then the Exhibit Hall pass is fine. There are some ABW folks speaking this time however, so you might want to look at the speaker list again before deciding

Rextopia will have a booth, as will some other ABW folks.

Definately depends on your goals. Sometimes, the topics that they cover is already something that you have heard over and over so the full pass might not be worth it.

    Networking is great!

One other factor is that an exhibit hall pass doesn't get you into the evening parties and other functions. At least I don't believe it does.

Actually it does. And some of them are private invites that you get from the booths also. I doesn't include lunch

    Partying is great!

Knowing people in your industry can take you much farther than you ever imagined. Great chance to meet others. Tons of good food and fun times. Lots of happy people in a happy environment in a booming industry. Loads of seminars to choose from (ran 3 concurrent at last one).

As cousins (industry euphemism), Shawn and Missy and I like to whack each other over the head with large objects usually - and I'm usually very negative on anything concerning CPA networks or even related to them or that is located in the same state as them... but there's no denying that Shawn and Missy do put on a snappy, entertaining, top-notch, well thought out, well planned, well organized, well attended seminar.

I'd do a few things differently - like have a live Molander piņata - but overall, if you're an affiliate, you will have a great time for sure and no matter the level of your experience, I'm confident you'll learn some new and useful things as well.

The seo presentation at the last one is the single best session i've ever attended in our industry - dude was good and said and showed a lot. He's Wil R and I see he's on the list to present again.

And I was just looking at the list of speakers... Kellie's Stevens / Affiliate Fair Play / Angel from heaven sent to protect affiliates... is on the list:
    http://www.affiliatesummit.com/07w_speakers.php
I've seen her present before at smaller events - the stuff she shows feels like a huge dumped bucket of wake-the-f^&%-up-and-see-what-they-do-to-cheat poured over your head. You'll be a much smarter aff or AM if you attend her session.

Kellie is a real gift from "the gods". I can't imagine how she does that much work on the subject.

And I totally agree about Wil. That guy is so sharp and has a fantastic presentation.

    >>>Partying is great!

I will personally host a late lunch @ The Venetian

By invitation only. Donuts has been invited.
Kellie to speak for 5 minutes, which is all I can take with "presentations".

    Bring a CPA piņata.

I like McDonald's and food courts are filled with interesting people, especially in Vegas. And if Mike Mackin is involved, I don't care where it's at - he's a legend and a friend. If Mike says he and I are meeting in the dumpster behind Kentucky Fried Chicken, I'm going in head first.

I'm off on a mission for that pinata! Going to have to find something interesting to fill it with...

    See you soon MM.

True Story: Jesse and I were across the street at the McDonalds in the Monte Carlo (after seeing Lance Burton), and a bride and groom in all their bride and groom gear - and they're entire wedding party - was having their wedding recption at the food court!!!

They let us cut ahead of them - we just wanted a happy meal, and they needed a LOT of cheeseburgers

I was a witness, lol, yes. I remember Billy saying "I wanna marry a woman that thinks McDonalds for her reception is just fine."

As long as it isn't a dinosaur..... (ouch) lol....

And I can see Donuts jumping head first into a dumpster if a good friend is involved.

Getting back to the initial topic...I am thinking about going to the Affiliate Summit as well but don't know if the extra $1200 is worth it if I am attending mainly for networking. Will I lose out on a lot of networking by only going with the basic package?

The summit is split up into areas and you're assigned a color coded ID you wear around your neck.

For example, red let's you go anywhere, blue is exhibit hall only.

If you get a the basic BLUE id, besides the obvious - you can't get near the areas where the speakers are...

if you want to "network" with people, and they're hanging out in the red area, you basically have to wait for them to go to the bathroom or out in the hall for a cigarette - to do your networking.

Also, you're treated more seriously - like a pro - if you have a red id tag (Hey he sprung for the all access pass/he must be a serious affiliate type of thing)

OK. I guess I could be talked in to going to Vegas for a couple days. Hard to turn down an opportunity to spend even a few minutes with Mackin. (and Scott I guess).
