    Password Protection advice please...
I am looking for advice on what is the best method out there for password protecting a directory of a website that will need to have multiple authorized users?

I know I can set up password protection within CPanel, but is there any limit to the number of authorized users doing it that way, and is there a better way to do it?

Are there any good, reliable, simple to set up and use systems out there?

    TIA!

Any time I have to password protect a site (not just a directory) I build my own (ASP) database driven password authentification script. When an authorised user logs in, I set a session variable to "authorised" and test for it at the top of every page in my protected area. If the user is logged in - in they get. If not, they are redirected to the log in screen. It is a bit of work to set up but I like to have control over my password db.

I hope that this was on topic enough...

    Thanks for the info Dave.

I am looking for something that I can just install and go. Unless cpanel can handle it, then I would just use the cpanel directory protection.

Does anyone know if there is a limite to how many individual login/passwords you can set up on a directory using cpanel?

I also forgot to mention that I need to have the option to set and expiration date for when their subscription runs out.

And on the member side of things, they just need to be presented with a username and password box that I can add to an HTML page.
