    Firefox 2.0
Anyone else tried the new Firefox?

    I give it

IMHO it combines the best of Firefox and Opera. Won't go into too many details other than to say check out the release notes...

I cannot think of anything off the top of my head other than the ay the tabs work now. They are just like Opera and I like that.

I have not noticed that but also have about 2GB of RAM in reserve so I think I could run NORAD on here and not notice it slowing down

Anyone else notice the CPU usage going up with it?

Two of the coolest features are:

    1. Spell check in forms (loving it...I look much smarter now )

    2. When your computer crashes or firefox closes unexpectedly, it will ask you the next time if you want to start where you were or start a new session. Just last night my laptop died and I needed that feature!

    in terms of features,
the ability to add more extensions make FF browser so good that
IE would be difficult to beat FF

IE7 comes with yahoo on it? I would have assumed MSN would be all over it.

I don't even look at IE anymore...I think I have IE 5 on mine

I did now know that Opera was based in Norway...I mean why did they not tell me that?

I used to LOVE Opera until FF 2.0 came out

    Hi

I find it very slow indeed and it seems others do too? This is to do with memory requirements? Presumably they will not be doing anything to resolve / fix this???

Looks like I may have to get some new memory (ah well, time for a new desktop anyway) or go to IE.

Ah not sure - I am not in my office anymore. I will have a check when I get back and post again. I thought it was quite high though.

    Question FireFox 2.0 anyone?
Well, downloaded it and don't see all that much of a difference though I haven't played with it too much. Anyone else bother to download it and install it?

My favorite new addition is the 'Show my windows and tabs from last time' option that saves all of the tabs open for the next time your startup Firefox, or in the rare instance of a crash. Of course, I've been using an extension to handle this long before 2.0, but it's nice to see it as a default option.

A few other tweaks with tab management (opening, closing, etc.) are nice. But on the whole, not a dramatic difference unless you're a power user. And even in that case you probably have a multitude of extensions anyway.

The speel chekc is teh bset prat by farr!

That and the recovery feature are the bestest!

I also like the "close tab" on each tab.

I DON'T like: The fact that it only allows about 12 tabs to be visible. Does anyone know a way around this?

There has been a lot of talk about the memory leak. There was some sort of fix going around (I can't come up with the link right now though...) that made FX2 use less ram and CPU. Maybe someone else has heard of such a thing.

By the way, the web developer extension is killer! I can edit HTML, java, CSS, etc... right in the browser and see the changes in real time! How I love extensions....

In the address bar (like where you'd type www.whatever.com) type in this, without the quotes: "about:config"

That'll give you access to more options and little tweaks than you could image.

    Cool stuff...
