NO I hated it. I was having major problems with it in all of my Cafepress stores, nothing but red x's. I kept thinking it was a Cafepress problem but when I uninstalled the beta the red x's went away.

Can't say I'm looking forward to an auto update (unless they made changes in the last mth)

Is there a place to dl a standalone version? I don't think I'll get the auto update, my XP has always had a little bug where I can't even dl SP2.

I don't want any major IE auto-update! I always wait a year or so for MS to get the big bugs out of their releases!

Is there any way to stop the autoupdate from happening--despite not having the update-immunity bug mentioned in this thread?

I'm always glad to get the regular patches and security fixes, but from what I've read about their earlier major "updates," any major MS release usually has more errors than fixes in it when it first comes out.

I will see if this works, it has IE7 listed:

Not sure if it works, something about waiting 30 minutes and being in some queue. So will wait and see what happens.

Yes, but most people still use IE so your sites need to look good with the new version.

Drewbert - Does it work with YOUR sites?
I've the Version 7.0.5700.6, only on one of my PCs
First release after the beta, was automatically downloaded a few weeks ago.
I'm pleased with 7.0, no problem with my surfing habits.
I don't know if 7 gold is a new version.
I had a few problems with the Beta. Could not see my stats with LinkShare, only the first page for each report. It's fine now.
I had problem with my Google bar, too. The look was messed up. It's fixed now.
BTW, did you try the new Google bar? It was downloaded automatically last week. Great free new feature. There's a "bookmark" you can use between different computers. It keeps your different bookmarks updated.

Now I just wish they'd upgrade their frozen IE 5.5 for Mac. They make it a real pain to test sites on IE for Mac users.

I'm not sure if it will be a separate dl in the updates. You can, in your Automatic Updates settings, choose anything but Automatic. Install them manually. If it's a separate install you can deselect it. At some point they will probably slip it in with other updates as a bundle, so to get the other updates you would have to install IE7. Even if they do that, there may be an option in Add/Remove programs to uninstall it. I installed the second Beta a while back. Too many bugs, removed. Even after uninstalling the IE7 update to go back to IE6, there were problems, so I had to do another install of IE6. Like with most M$ software, I think you should wait until they work out the bugs that will appear because of the variety of user environments.

I always prefered IE dont know, and now with the new version I don't think I'll be ever switching to FireFox, after all the only feature that we all needed were the tabs
