I know HTML fairly well, but when I try to send an HTML e-mail, it just shows up as text.

What am I missing?

Here are some handy step-by-step instructions
http://www.e-mailpro.com/html/index.html

I don’t do it myself this way anymore. I now use www.constantcontact.com, which does all of the work for me.

What are you using to compose the html newsletter, and what are you trying to use to send them?

I hate HTML email because it tends to try to load all sorts of graphics and rubbish. Not all mail clients are very good with HTML mail, or some people choose to disable parts of the functionality (like remote graphics download). Outlook 97 (which is still very common) doesn't handle HTML at all well.

If you *are* going to have an HTML newsletter (say) I'd recommend making a non-HTML one available too.

Thanks for the link.

I write using just a text editor (a version of vi).

Dynamoo,
HTML converts better What I like about Constant Contact is that it automatically detects if the recipient can view HTML correctly, and if they can’t they get a text version.

Bullwinkle,
Try pasting your source code from your editor into Notepad, and then paste it from Notepad into your mail client.
