I currently have someone using Teleport Pro who is busily downloading my entire site. I am not overly worried as my important files are secure but his program is constantly running scripts and cgi programs which is bending my server. Can I cut this guy / girl instantly off via telnet? What command can I use after I get their IP address.

The only way I can think of is to pipe ( | ) the IP address into the .htaccess file, but I don't quite know what the syntax would be in this case since it has to go into the deny/allow section.

Can't you just use a wildcard at the end of the IP address and insert it into your .htaccess file's deny, allow section?

I assume it is not "your" server.. if it is you can look into packet filtering that IP. Deny via .htaccess.. (see httpd.apache.org manual) and yes I'd recommend definitely restricting by user agent, however, most of the websuckers can change what they give as user agent.

Thanks - .htaccess is the route I went

    Bracket Limit GET Bracket
    order deny,allow
    deny from 193.xx.xxx.xxx 193.xx.xxx.xx 193.xx.xxx.xxx
    Bracket /Limit Bracket

    (Bracket = greater than symbol)

The little SOB is back again today, fortunately on the same three IP addresses.
