    Can't log into Linkshare
This is unbelievable! I can't log into Linkshare.

    I had them e-mail me a password & that doesn't work either!

Linkshare with all its self touting and praising doesn't care enough about affiliates to let them log in!

For years I had the same password.

    Why are they wacky now?

I could not log in and when I requested a password to be sent to me--that doesn't work either!!

So how does one get in?

I just requested another password: do I need to wait 10 hours or something?
    It's not working

There were too many security questions too. I forgot which one I originally created: probably my aunt's first dog's name or the make of my 1st car (those are the only type of questions I'd answer online) but neither helped me log into Linkshare -- talking about a system that doesn't work and doesn't care about affiliates!!

I notice that the Linkshare Mod is online but seems to be avoiding my pleas for help

You need to wait for a couple of hours. They asked me to change passward AGAIN last night. I did. I could login to the account but couldn't go to the "report" for a few hours.

Thanks for the answer -- I nominate you for the Linkshare Moderator position (at least you come up with an answer).

This system of Linkshare's is so convenient

That happened to me so I phoned. The person on the other end was very helpful and I was able to login in with his help.

    R7,

    Dear Billy

Congratulations ! When you visited the KeyNetLinks.com booth at EcomExpo, you entered to win one of two prizes.

You have won the Laplink Everywhere software prize! Enjoy secure remote access to your applications, databases, files and e-mail from any web-enabled device for one year!

Laplink Software is a global leader in PC connectivity. With Laplink Everywhere remote access and control software, you can safely and securely use applications, document files and network resources, or view and update your Outlook e-mail, contacts, calendar and tasks from anywhere - just as if you were sitting right in front of your own PC.
I already have GoToMyPC - same thing. Do you want it? (and we'll be even on the summit pass)

Billy, what does your "GoToMyPC" have to do with my inability to log into LS?
Something like that should be taken to PM but I replied to your post anyway.

I thought you had won a lap dance and wondered if I wanted it
    I've never heard of GoToMyPC
You can keep it or give it to someone else

When I gave the ticket back to Vinny it was up to him to give out the ticket, so my "gift" to you was merely an indirect one.

    Thanks anyway

Does Linkshare notice that it's Login/Password system is frustrating/annoying affiliates?

This is an example of the exastperating process I had to go through with Linkshare and it is illustrated for the edification of those who wish to be edified.

I tried to log in dozens of times and then I was sent to :
    http://ssl.linksynergy.com/php-bin/c...password.shtml
a perplexing page with too many security questions (I don't even recall filling out such security questions at any particular time)

I filled out my e-mail address in this form:
    http://ssl.linksynergy.com/php-bin/c...username.shtml

Each time (about 12 times) I received this (now edited) e-mail:

    Dear rhia7@somecom.com :
Your LinkShare Username(s) are as follows:
    zany_alphanumeric_mix
    Login name

If you would like to reset your password, please use the following link:
    http://ssl.linksynergy.com/php-bin/c...password.shtml
Please keep this information in a secure location for future use [only problem was that the information sent to me never worked]
Remember that Usernames are case sensitive

If you encounter any problems, or have any questions or concerns, please
    contact LinkShare at contact@linkshare.com.
[Yeah, like they will answer my e-mails ]
Thank you for your participation in The LinkShare Network, and we look forward to a rewarding partnership with you! [Really? ]

    Best regards,

    The LinkShare Team
    http://www.linkshare.com

I made a copy & paste of the login & password a dozen times but could not get through. I tried typing in the exact letters by hand and by cut & paste.

Finally I looked through a notebook where I write Internet secret passwords -- lo and behold an old password that I had forgotten actually worked.

How come the password mailed to me 12 times never worked but my old one that I had written down did?

Do you know what is really cool?

When you reset your password because it expired, they do not limit the characters in the password -so you can make invalid passwords galore - and never get the feedback that the password is too long. This only happens in this password reset, not the others. I so hope the highschool intern who programmed their site got an F for that quarter.

    Chet,

Are you sure a high school intern programmed Linkshare's login system?

I thought it was a kindergarten kid

Well, I can't get in either. I get:

You have been logged out for security reasons. To log back in again, please enter your Username and Password above.

    WTF?

Is the number I should use to call 888 742 7389?

Try 888-SHARE-89 ext. 644 between 9-6 EST -- my attempts were futile but that's the only information I know.

Thanks, I used their contact form (http://ssl.linksynergy.com/php-bin/a.../support.shtml) and hoped for the best. An hour later I was able to login. I'm not sure if it was a "glitch" in their "system" or if someone in CS actually fixed it, but my login works again.
