    What Makes a Good Banner?
    Hi everybody,

I would like to know what makes a good banner for promoting affiliate programs. What do you look for?

We want to create a huge number of creatives for our affiliates, but I'd like to know what everybody prefers when it comes to banners.

-Do you like lots of text?
    -Do you like product images?
-Do you like to see prices?
-What banner sizes do you prefer?
    -What colors do you prefer?

As a merchant, I can say less text is good. I don't like prices either. Some text that draws you in, good images, and nice color. Bright, but not too much blinking and such.

As for sizes, you should provide all the standard IAB sizes (

Lots of affiliates here seem to love the 88x31 branded banner too.

Ditto on what MindSprinter said. Colorful but not flashy. I tend to favor more of the small to medium size banners and the "search" box type.

A couple may be nice (if they are expecially nice), but normally, a product datafeed serves the purpose of promoting particular products.

I'm not sure it is wise to do that, as your prices may change with time.

affiliates like standard and non-stadard size if the banner conveys a... "click me image if your interested". Some tell a product story for larger 350x250 of page showstoppers. have worked for years on both affiliate pages and get higher CTR at Google Adwords then the text Ads.... go figure. Feel free to copy any of them (large or small) and put them on your site with a link to my client... :roflol:

Yes, you are right. A strong Call to Action is essential.

My favorite sites used to be Banner Tips which did extensive A/B testing on banners and published the results in detail. I used to love guessing which banners would perform better and then pouring over the results. Pity it closed down.
