Exclamation Guys & Gals - Help With 7 yr Old Sons Present Please!!
I am hoping that some of you great people scattered across this world will give me a hand with one of my 7 year old sons Christmas presents. He wants something that I just can't go out and buy.

Even though he is only 7, he is a HUGE Geography buff. He loves anything and everything to do with places around the world. He can rattle off Capitals, Provinces, Territories, Continents and all kinds of facts about just any place in the world.

This summer his teacher sent him a couple of post cards while she and her family were traveling. He would get the cards and then look up the places on his globe and in his geography books. This sparked a new fire in my kid. Now his goal is to get postcards from as many different places around the world as possible.

That leads me to this post. (plea, if you will)

Would any of you be so kind to send him a postcard from wherever you may be? In the U.S., out of the U.S., anywhere near or far! When trying to decide how to go about this and reach as many good people as possible, ABW was the first place that came to mind!

I want to get as many postcards as possible between now and Christmas. Then I am going to wrap them up, along with an album to keep them in and surprise him with them on Christmas day.

I have spoken to our postmaster and he has set up it up so that any mail sent to my son at an address he has given me will be set aside to be picked up by my husband or I. (which is very cool since I didn't really want to give out our home address and my son's full name for obvious safety reasons)

If you are interested, post here and I will PM you with the mailing address given to me by the post office. If you can't accept PM's them leave an email address for me to contact you at.

Help me make my little guys dream come true!

    Thanks guys!!
    ~Michelle

Very cool idea Michelle. Count me in :-)

Have you seen the very very cool interactive globe at Discovery Channel Store? My younger daughter was/is also a geogrophy freak and I got her this globe for Christmas a few years ago. She loves it still. Sounds like a perfect gift for your son.

    Hi Michelle,

Sounds like a great idea. Send me a PM and I'll see what I can do ... I'm in Switzerland with friends all over the place so I should be able to get a few interesting ones for him.

Is that the globe the you use the pointer and point at areas on the globe and it tells you details and trivia about that area?

If so, I was just looking at one of those yesterday and thinking about getting it for him.

I wondered how good they really were.

I can send your son a post card from NYC and I have some from Spain, I could send him a post card from Spain but it would be postmarked from NY

    PM me with your details

You should include your son's name so people can write a brief message or something -- or would you prefer it blank?

Well, I'll try to send you a unique one, but you're probably going to get a bunch from South Florida, since some other ABWs live around here too.

PM the address to me too, please. I might even have some we have picked up on vacation thru the years.

Also - I just checked out a hunch I had. Check eBay for QSL cards, which is how Ham Radio operators show the different locations in the world they have communicated with. There are several lots for sale - some are fairly inexpensive. You could watch for a group from a certain area of the world.

    Rhia... I included his name.

Jorge... That is fine if he gets quite a few from the same area - he will love them all!

Jmoore61103 ... Thanks for the ebay idea. I will check that out!

Richard... You can write whatever you like on the postcard, a greeting, or even an interesting fact about where you live (like :home to the worlds largest oak tree: or something), that would be great.

    MissDonna... Thank you!!

PM if you need one with a Royal Oak postmark (all our mail gets marked there). But since you're in MI, you may already have plenty of those...
