I went online yesterday and filled CJ's application. We're a merchant, manfucaturer and a service franchisor that's been in business [ a CA C corp ] for over 10 years.

    Today I received an email stating that we rejected. So, I clicked the link that said;

"For more details, please see the advertiser criteria on our Web site"

Welcome to the wonderful world of CJ. We are all still trying to figure them out. You should be on the publisher side when a merchant that is perfect for your site turns you down. Ouch!

Well seeing as probably all the best CJ affiliates are here already, look on it as saving $250 per month plus 30%.

I'm sure Mike and co will be happy to advise you on in-house solutions.

Perhaps it's because the majority of your site is NOT dedicated to selling things? They may have felt the "traffic leaks" were way too high to be justified.

That's just a theory though... I have no way of knowing what CJ's logic was!

    1-800-DRYCARPET,

I'm sorry you were declined. When we joined in July one of the CJ reps told me we were really lucky to be approved at all and said the main reason we were is that we are in a hot niche that does not have a lot of CJ competition.

He didn't SAY this, but the impression I got was that they are getting so big that they are becoming very, very selective. So don't feel bad, they just seem to be cutting back on the number of merchants they will accept. I'm sure the people here can give you some other options.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Linda,

Niche? Unique? New to market? Do you mean like: Snapple, Simple Green, BreathAssure?

    1. As a company we are 1 of 4 that manufacture DAM (a physical media for carpet cleaning -DAM -green class organic).

    2. As a niche or perceived value? Wow, have YOU ever steam-cleaned your carpet? Experience several hours/days of down time? Experience returning spots?? Smell? Shrinking?

Linda, our company has solved AND CREATED a remedy to the world-wide phenomenon of RETURNING SPOTS due to soap residue.

I guess that no one likes rejection. You either get bitter or better! What we really need is affiliates who can trust us? Thank you for your reply - all the input on this board is thoughtful and intelligent!

Haven't you just signed up as a merchant at Shareasale ? You shouldn't need CJ if you can get your program across to the affiliates on this board.

As Icicle said, many of the top performing affiliates are here - all they need is a a reason to promote your stuff and maybe some suggestions on where and how and you'll do very nicely.

    1-800-DRYCARPET,

I visited your website and found it very confusing to actually figure out where to purchase your products. When I got to the detail page I saw the ADD TO CART button only after a minute of confusion. They probably felt that your site is not dedicated to selling your products therefore you don't emphasise it. If you would have a prominent link on your homepage to buy the products, I think you would have a better chance. They didn't reject your business, they rejected your website as it is now.

Just to let you know, CJ is the best network both in terms of affiliates and in terms of management.
